Hey guys, lately my ef has been shifting hard..

I have worked out it only happens when your accelerate, then fully let go and as it shifts, it does it very firmly (uncomfortably, not normal)

it usually does it more when cold, but its starting to happen all the time now and is worse in power.

the auto should shift harder when the oil is cold but i could not tell you why it would all of a sudden decide to act like it has a shift kit. hey enjoy it Free shift kit. :)

lol i just paid $250 to experience what your talkin about!
All the falcs auto tend to shift alot harder the older they get sometimes in a positive almost fun way and sometimes very uglys ways.
I would say S5 solenoid is on its way out as the shift quality is chamnging when fluid viscosity is changing

Mine does that too. It only does it when I take off too fast and then get off the accelerator when I get to the speed limit.

I assumed it was because I was driving like a t*** and the gearbox was trying to shift based on heavy throttle input.

mine does the same. when i accelerate hard to 50, back off and it changes to second, then the revs hang for a bit in a kind of neutral, then it slams straight to 4th.

They all do it, if you dont want it to do that put it in 3rd when you drive hard, and it wont slam into 4th when ever you back off.

mine did that too when the S5 was on the blink, i thought it was pretty awesome for a while, before learning how bad it was for most of the other parts :P

my car does the same but only when my gf is driving
it .mostly from being girly with the pedal....
els throttle seem to be a bit on off
and you can confuse g/box very easily
try using your gears to slow down
down to 3rd brake as you come to traffic change down to second when you need to start stoping
this way you can punch the throttle all you want without the eseries thump we all hate.
either that or pratice better foot to acellerator timing

sometimes i think it maybe the gear box having a whinge because it was about to change and i changed its mind with the throttle.
somtimes its feels like i maybe flooded it a bit..
mabey there is a faulty part /sensor onthe gbox or throttle and asociated that deals with the situation of jumping off the accelletator between gears?
afaik its not standard replacment of engine or gearbox mounts.
