Lenny,

The coolers in the radiators on the BA's are common to let go, putting water into the auto and killing it. Best to bypass the radiator cooler and install a large external one. Also BA trans have problems with the front pumps, but they can be modified to fit the earlier front pumps for reliability.

Give Top Quality Transmissions a call 9444 0181 speak to the boys there and tell them Jamie sent you.

Top Quality are definitely the way to go, in Osborne Park
Simon did mine after my trans cooler split and leaked water into the trans. I decided to go all out with shiftkit, billet products, hi-stall and external trans cooler
fairly pricey but they did a good job, pretty good blokes there as well

Putting earlier parts in will be the cheapest way to fix your trans going by your description of your problems.

Could you post up a few more details about your transmission work?

Yo.............. well the tow truck will be here shortly! like in half an hour..........

Tranny sounds like a set of brakes being applied with none or worn out pads in 1st, 2nd and R.

mmmm..............
Has been making a quiet wirrring sound for a few weeks and just let go all of the sudden

heres my receipt

-recondition transmission
-electronic shift kit
-xr6 kevlar band
-billet servo
-hi flo pump mod (EL model fitted)
-machined and crossdrilled clutch hub
-hi performance frictions
-billet deep pan
-hi-stall (2600 i think?)
-transmission cooler
-trans dipstick
-also a 2 way switch which allows you to change it from a soft shift or a hard shift

all of this was for a mkI BA XR6t, 4-speed auto, was also told that if I was still able to wreck it in the next 12 months he'd redo the whole thing for free

with the car on stock tune it takes off really sluggish due to the stally, but with the edit it F**k takes off, puts ya back in your seat. No stamping of the pedal is needed as well as the slightest push in the pedal causes it to drop back a gear very quickly and just take off.
Makes it very quick round corners
Just very costly thats all

oh yeah, doesn't require a re-edit if you have a flashtune your BA

Niiice.

I bet it cost like 3 grand :/

I'm just scared of my box letting go, I've never had any problems with it, but I've heard plenty of horror stories :(

yeah it was just a bit over 3 grand, I only had it done cause my trans cooler s**t itself and leaked water into the transmission. I thought I would just go all out on it considering it was gonna need some work anyway
