hey guys,

the ball joints on my el need replacing, now i was thinking about pulling the uprights off and takin them to work and heating the upright and taking the ball joint out then using liquid nitrogen to shrink them back it,

would they be able to handle this or should i just press them in?

Methinks pressing would be a whole lot simpler. Get the right tool from Repco, also makes it easier:

i have access to the oxy and liquid nitrogen at work so it'd be about the same, either way it's still got to be removed from the car to do it

For starters, DO NOT HEAT any suspension or steering component....it will crack later on.
DO NOT put the BJ's in liquid nitrogen....it will interfere with the balljoint shank, as in, changes the metalurgical structure of the metal in the shank.
Press them out, and press them in....just like how Ford did it.
