Few months back i had a new heavy duty clutch put in my el xr6 by herrord. Few weeks after that every know and again it refused to go into gear. Last couple of days its gotten alllooot worse. It doesnt grind into gears or anything like that it wont go in at all unless you really force it. I barely maded home from work tonite didnt want to go into any gear! If i leave the car in nutural just idling it doesnt try to stall, but if i somehow get it into 1st gear and press the clutch it tries to stall... If anyone has any idea whats going on let us know
cheers

sounds like its not engaging/disengaging properly. maybe ur clutch cable is faulty and is stretched? just a guess.

Adding to alfy's comment, check your clutch fork to see if it is bent and see if the bush is in good nick. The fork might have bent due to the heavier clutch grab.

Have you tried adjusting the nut at the firewall?

This happened to me as well when I put my new clutch in, but only in the beginning, I had to roll the car down the driveway before it would engage any gear. After that it was normal. Had to fiddle with the cable adjusting nut for a bit.

yer i treid tightening/ loosening the nut at the firewall didnt make a difference. On the way back from work tonite i had to bang in gears like i was race changing otherwise the gears wouldnt go in and i would of been left in the middle of s**t creek lol.

bring it back to where you got it done and ask them what might have caused the problem. Or tell them to fix it because it has been happening since they did the clutch change.

Worse thing that could have happened was that they put the clutch disk thingy in the wrong way.

have you checked for cracking around the firewall where the cable goes through?
as its common for the firewall to crack and flex..
get someone to push the clutch in and look at where the cable goes through the firewall and you will see ..

also check your pedal box where the pedal goes on as this also is common to crack and flex.. does your pedal look like its at an angle...
if it is your pedal box may be cracked..

i also fitted a hd clutch and it killed my firewall and pedal box after about 3 months..

if so this might piss you off as i had to remove the whole dash to get the pedal box out

after some re-enforcments its all fine now...
