I have an Au series III, I6, 78,000km, It creaks a little when you are turning when stationary. I would imagine it is a steering box failure. But other than the noise or pulling left a little when highway driveing its alright. Oh and its not loosing any steering fluid.
I shall book it in for a check up and expect to fork out some cash i guess.

hi mate i no on ba/bf falcons it was common that the car would have a steering creak what it actually is; is the studs that hold the rack on requires backing off (dont take bolts off studs) and pull steering rack forward on the stud and apply anti-seize to behind where you have just pulled rack forward on stud then push rack back and do the same to the other side of stud tighten bolts back up it says they need to be toqued but just tighten them as tight as u can only apply anti-sieze to the right hand stud only the left hand DOES NOT need to be done
i hope ive helped
cheers
gavin
