as the topic says i wuold like to know if these boxes are any different, the reason i want to know is that my EB 6 has been written off, and i am looking at buying a EF V8 wagon and the idea of a manual V8 wagons appeals to me a lot. i realise the bell housing would be different but am worried mainly about the strenght of the box

The input shaft is a different length. I believe the V8 example is longer so you can't just machine it.
Coming from a transmission place the first ratio is different between the two so you can just swap the shaft over from one to the other. As you say the bell housing and I suspect the flywheel are also different..

Do a search, there were two V8 conversions listed in the last month on here.

i searched for the differences but not for the parts, i thought if it was the same g/box it might be easy as i have a full conversion for a 6, but as usual nothing is easy a first thaught.
