Box will go in.

Clutch is different but will still work as long as you use an EA flywheel.

Pedal box is different. You can make it fit with an angle grinder, a drill, and a couple of zip ties (not as dodgy as it sounds).

Ok, Kezz is right. I have an EA conversion in my EF. Needed a lot of help doing it (I am not that mechanically minded )
My Friend that helped me out was a 4th year apprentice mechanic, and was very cluey about what needed to happen.

The Bellhousing is the same.

The only things that are different are the flywheel, particularly where the clutch bolts to the flywheel. You need an EA clutch, not an EB-EL one.

The Tailshaft is different. You will get away with the auto one.

The pedal box is different. Put the pedals from the EA pedal box onto the the EF auto one. You will need to weld the pin that holds the Clutch pedal in place.

The hardest thing is to rewire the plug thatsends the data to the ECU (ie: Speed, neutral safety switch, reverse switch)
My Friend Figured this out using a multimeter

Hope that this helps

keen to hear more about this! :? are you saying with using an auto ECU, or the plugs from an EA don't match the EF?

I heard a rumour that the EA was one of the weakest T5s around until I fitted one to my V8 and its still going strong 3 years later. Good mod to do nevertheless.

i did the conversion about 2 month ago into an ef using ea bits everything went in sweet using the ecu trick off this forum the only problem i have is the speedo is out but from what i have read the el loom is slightly different once you do the conversion you will wonder why you didnt do it a long time ago but beware of excessive tyre wear also make sure you replace the front gearbox seal and if the rear main seal hasnt been done do it now orelse leaking oil will stuff your clutch

Long story short, the plug fits but the wires are in a different order.

The Auto box uses 2 plugs. A round one and a square one that has 8 pins on it.
The plug that has the 8 pins physically fits, it is just that the pins are in a different order.
The Pins for the speed are the same. The ones that need to be rearranged are the one for the Neutral switch (we just earthed that one out), and the one for the reverse lights (we used a multimeter to figure out what one we needed.
We had a wiring diagram for the EF, but the EA has different coloured wires

On the weekend, I will pull my car apart and let you know more details if you like

Cheers
Chris

PS: I have thrashed my car day in and day out for the last month and have had no issues with the EA T5 box.
