Hi all, Ive just bought a v8 ef fairmont and would like to do a change of oil in the dif because i can hear a bit of whining etc. Could anyone please tell me how many litres of oil i'll need and also recommend a product thats useful for treating the dif. thanks.

The big oil companies have lube guides on their websites.

1.6L is the factory spec, you will need to buy 2L anyway.

Castrol SAF-XA or Penrite Limslip are usually recommended from what I've read.

Fresh fluid will probably shut it up and even help it lock better, not many people bother to change it.

BTW, Welcome!

I've used nothing but Redline synthetic 75W140 in my two XR6s with LSDs. Good for reducing or eliminating diff noise, and can tighten up a borderline LSD. Was recommended by the local Ford dealer; they say it fixes 90% of the diff noise problems they see.
