Gday guys, Another problem has arisen with my EF Fairmont..... the brake lights have stopped working. The parkers come on when the lights are switched on but nothing lights up when the pedal is pressed.
I jiggled the switch on the brake pedal a little bit and it worked once but never again until i jiggle it.

Is it a faulty switch or maybe a bad connection perhaps?
What should I expect to pay for a new switch?

(yes the bulbs are fine ;) )

Replace the switch mate, takes about 10 min to do and you can pick them up from Supercheap, Bursons, Autobarn or places like that for about $15 (or you can buy one from Ford for about $30)

Wtf??
I'm having the exact same problem with my EF right now! I just signed into fordmods to look for some info on it and found your thread. Let us know where you find one and for how much. I'll let you know if I find one for cheaper than $41.

I had the exactly the same problem with mine. yes it does need a new switch, fiddled around with mine for ages as it was a new switch in it but it turned out to be faulty aswell anyway i picked one up from just a random car parts place for $10 new. so id suggest look around supercheap autobarn etc and dont pay an astronomical amount when its possible to buy them so cheap.

The cheap ones will last about 6 months.
The expensive ones you will get 5+ years out of.

Yes there is a difference, the genuine ones are much better.

Do the sums.

just brought brand new rotors for $77 each from repco...and paid $55 for bentix general purpose pads.
heard of people paying $100 for same rotors and around $70 for the pads.

Personally get a genuine one, they come with a 12 month warranty. I have been through 3 in 12 months that were non genuine and my car doesnt get driven that often( maybe once a month)

If this one that I got dies within a few months, then I'll invest in a more expensive one.
The last one I got must have lasted me 3+ years at least, and it was a cheapo one too. And I drive over 500k a week.
