hi everyone im having problems with my auto was in limp mode it was stuck in third them sometimes it would give me 1st 2nd 3rd but not drive. i have checked the oil it looks bit yuk but still ok. ive changed the inhiberter switch but still does the same think can anyone give me some advise any thing would be great cheers

Check your connections and also your Auto Computor.

we put it on a scan tool and the guy reckons auto computer then some people say it could be the tcu only problem the computers are getting hard to find another member gassa offered me one for 140 but its lot if its not it

You said trans fluid was a not too bad which can also mean it's not to good. Try changing the trans oil it and put a filter kit through as can get the filter and sump gasket for under $20 now. Wifes EF had a similar problem and being a Ghia had no dip stick so gave it a oil change and filter and had all gears again. Car had done 220K's then. Now has 330K and still good. My 97 DL 302 started doing lazy changes when cold at 440K. As a 302 (sorry 4.9) they have a dip stick. Oil was a dark red so cooked a little bit but not burnt. Changed oil and filter and no more lazy changes when cold. DL now has 513K on the clock. Could be cheap fix for the price of oil & filter kit. Good luck with it.
