I have a 97 EL Fairmont Ghia V8, bought it new and had all services done as per book.

Now the problem. Driving on highway at 100km/hr flat section of road and revs increase from 2000rpm to 3000 rpm. Then drop down to 2200rpm then back to 2000rpm.

It seams to do this on a long trip after about 3/4 - 1 hours driving.

Any help/advise will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i would check the bands on your gear box...or it might need a service

Yes it is an auto, it's also on gas but the problem is there on gas or petrol.

I was hoping that a service would fix it (fingers crossed), when you say check the bands, does that mean drain oil and drop the pan?

i am pretty sure you dont have to drop the oil....i know you can adjust the rear band from the outside of the box....I have only just got my EF so i cant say for sure about the front one
