I have a 97 EL with 130,000KM on the clock and the automatic gearbox has started to make a high pitched noise when you accelerate, it only started this when the clock went past 129,000KM.

What do you think?

I have to take it into Fraud this week, but if they say its stuffed i think ill get a manual box put in.

Same thing happened to mine around 120 000km...I know of the embarassing high pitched noise you are talking about.

Get it looked at ASAP coz I put mine off for a bit and suddenly...boom....no gears....I was told I prob need to replace the whole lot (suggested by 3 tranny places) Luckily I know a good Mechanice...he just serviced it...fresh oil and its all sweet as...might pay to get that checked before you pay $$$$ for a new one. Only cost me $180.00 and my problems are gone.
