hi I have a el falcon and only have reverse on idle not under load give it a few revs it goes nowhere but the foward gears work fing about 500 k on this auto.... any ideas

Best bet is to take it to a tranny specialist or even your local mechanic to get it diagnosed, might need a rebuild with 500k on it it's probably about time

thanks I havnt got much faith in tranny specialsts last time I had a problem (because its an Ex taxi with 1,220',000 km on the clock) he told me it was stuffed that was 40,000 ago i serviced it with filter etc havnt haad a problem till now might have to do a change over Its a colum shift so bellhousing etc have to be changed bugger

This may be a stupid thing to say but make sure the fluids full. My Ef was doing the same and I thought it was the band and the checked the fluid. It was not low but needed a top up and now she is fine and has been for about 100k's. Mind you mines only got 189 thou on her
