Hi, ive recently fitted a el 3.45:1 lsd (not sure if xr6 or ghia) into my ef fairmont. It was fine for a week or so but now theres a really bad knocking/creaking sound from somewhere in rear suspension, happens mainly on rhs but sometimes lhs aswell. It tends to do it more when stopping or taking off when the cars wait shifts. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? Im thinking it might have something to do withg using the ef control arms and not el but before i go buying some el ones i thought i should check. Any help would be great.

Did you change the diff cover?
or at least did you use the EL watts link? You'll notice the EF watts link is in a different position and a different pivot lenght than that of the EL one!

first thing is if ur has been lowered check the diff arm and ur exhaust and see if its ratling on each other or any other part of the exhaust ratling on the diff

if it is wat i said koz i had it happen on my car go to the exhaust shop and they will tuck it up higher 4 a bit of cash probley 30 bucks

Nah i didnt change the watts link or cover, got a feeling that could be it. It deffinately doesnt sound like the exhaust rattling on the diff arm, its more of a loud creaking noise. My car does have superlows though so never know it may be that, i'll have to check tomorrow. Thanks

try tightening all the bolts again, i hada similiar problem with my ef, the shock bolts werent tight enough.

Yea i already tried that because i had the same problem when i first put the suspension in, but this is deffiantely a creaking sound, doesnt always do it on bumps just most bumps, and does it bad when i come to a complete stop or taking off. My guesses are either the watts link like Krytox said or because ive used ef control arms and not el.
