Hi all...

I want/need to change my wheel bearing but I want to make sure that the new ones are proper material, not the made in china rubish. I`m looking for something of quality even if the price is bigger.

So...to all of you that have any knowledge or experience, please post some brands, models or even stores form Adelaide.

Thanks.

Any reputable auto store such as Repco , Bersons , etc should carry them.

In SA, sprint auto parts are best.

Definitely Timken. Make sure you use a good grease too, I use the Timken grease. Sprint will have everything you need. KIT 1166 from memory for E Series.

Make sure the hub goes in til it stops....a couple of mm below the machined face.
If you only tap it in til it is level with the machined face, the outer lip will burn off and leak grease.
Don't over tighten the axle nut, and recheck them in about 500 km.

dont need a press. a hammer and a punch will do. but is you do not know how to adjust wheel bearings, they wont last long. take it to someone who knows, or maybe someone on here can come and help you

What do you mean adjust? Can a tyre service do it or it can be done only by a mecanic?

wheel bearings need to be set at the correct tension, otherwise they are too loose or too tight and wont last very long. depends on what tyre service it is, you'll have to ask them.

torque wrench on the nut. its not just one bearing, its two tapered bearings opposing each other. not having a dig at you but i'd suggest you get someone who knows what they are doing to do it, and if you can, watch over their shoulder.

Yeah but i don't know anyone. :)
Is there a special torque measure or it must be adjusted based on the way it looks?

I really want to stay away from mechanics because they are expensive.
