When driving and goining over uneven/bumpy roads i get a quite loud banging sound from the right hand front tyre area. It's getting worse and now it sounds like metal on metal. Any ideas? I was told possibly lower ball joint bushes? not sure..wat do u think?

Cheers

If your brake rotors are worn that can cause some god awful noises up front. I thought I had something serious on one of my cars but it ended up being the brake rotor.

If its 22mm or less then its time to change brakes.

oh ok...fair enough...i know my rotors are f&#ked ...can feel massive wobbles and pumping of the brake pedal when i brake and massive squeaks are always there, but the noise i get is a real bang. Sounds like the shocker aint even bolted in....(im pretty sure it is :? ) lol

I would do your brakes first then. Maybe the calipers are hitting something or the pistons are further out of the pot than they should be.

I got my front brakes replaced for $250 which included changing the brake fluid and new bearings and pads.

I'm sure it would fix up your problem.

I have the same problem... after changing the springs and tightening everything up which was undone, the noise still remains.

I did have a major noise, found that the upper suspension arm bushes had dissappeared!!!! Replaced, fixed...

But... I still have that strange, creaking, tapping noise coming from the front.

LMAO....it sounds like we are underestimating how loud it is. give us a comparison, your saying a real bang like the shocker isn't even on and guys are replying to a tapping noise. Like is it a gun shot loud or a hammer or a piece of wood falling on the ground. LMAO...sorry but the way you desrcibe it, it sounds like you whole front end is going to collapse.

Cheers

HAAHA yeah...the sound was quiter but now its a quite loud metal on metal sound. The souns is kinda amplified through the cabin...but i think the lower ball joint and or sway bar bushes sounds about right.

thanks

It didn't cost much to replace... I think my mechanic charged me $110 to do the right upper arm bushes. He said the bushes were like $15, and I've got a spare one for the other side when and if it goes.

Now that I look at it, I could have done it myself I rekon, pretty easy, I just didn't have the time then. ;)

Hey just an update i got my Rebel Ford mate to come down a suss out the noise and it seemed that the sway bar rubbers were worn on the right and gone on the left..so after replacing them with new ones (like $3.00 each the noise has gone and im a happy man!

Cheers
