Hey guys needing some clarification on compatibility of parts.

Im fairly certain the AU box will fit in the ef sedan, but do i use original shifting mechinisim that came with the box, out of an AU ute?

The au bellhousing wont fit onto ef block as the bottom 2 bolts wont line up?, but will the clutch fork fit into ef el bellhousing?

Will the automatic ef shaft be compatable with AU T5.

Will the AU pedal box fit into the EF?

Also will the auto flywheel mate upto an AU clutch package.

Any help appreciated as im flying solo on this mission!

Firstly the au box is longer so the shifter sits further back and wont line up correctly and you will also need an au manual tail shaft. Secondly the auto flywheel is just tin with holes in it for the torque convertor to bolt to, the manual one is a solid bit of steel.

(A) No you are wrong, AU T5 will fit but as was said about it is longer that the E series T5. Wou will need to modify your floor slightly and you centre consul.

The au bellhousing wont fit onto ef block as the bottom 2 bolts wont line up?, but will the clutch fork fit into ef el bellhousing?

(A) AU bellousing will bolt up but as you have said, the bottom 2 bolts won't fit. Many have used this set up with zero issues. Have no anwser on the clutch fork.

Will the automatic ef shaft be compatable with AU T5.

(A) No, you will require and AU Manual Tailshaft due to the AU T5 being longer. E sereis Auto and Manual use the same tailshaft

Will the AU pedal box fit into the EF?

(A) No.

Also will the auto flywheel mate upto an AU clutch package.

(A) No. Auto uses a Flex plate. You will need to find a Flywheel to suit, AU will be fine.

Any help appreciated as im flying solo on this mission![/quote]

my opinion is sell the au t5 conversion and get the correct e series one, it is less head aches and the au conversions are harder to come by so it should fetch more coin, e series conversions sell for 3-700 depending on how desperate the seller is,

Ok not so awesome news, is there any benifits of an au box over the older e series T5
on the length issue how much modification needed on the floor? As i have a manual tailshaft to suit box out of an au ute, I'm now chasing pedalbox if anyone knows anyone?
Now will an e series box bolt up to au bellhousing?
Would I be able to trade a gearbox at the wreckers?
Thanks for the feed back glad i haven't pulled anything apart yet!

(A) Much of a muchness.

(A) By memory approx 20mm.

(A) Yes.

Would I be able to trade a gearbox at the wreckers?
(A) Doubt it, but worth a try, will probably cost you some cash as well if they do it.

Thanks for the feed back glad i haven't pulled anything apart yet!

AU shift lever is 50mm further back than E-series shift lever. So it's going to be quite a job to make it fit and you'll need to move your center console backwards as well.

Hi,

Can't see that tail shaft being right either... The AU ute is going to be longer than the sedan one because the ute is a longer wheelbase...

Any box will bolt to any bellhousing...

I fitted an AU motor into my manual ED and used the same box and tailshaft, just bought the AU bellhousing so I had all the bolts line up... I know a lot of people say the missing two don't matter but I wasn't going down that route...

Cheers,
Tim

Ive since purchased an ed manual, so will the pedal box out of that fit into an ef?
Also anyone got a manual interior gearboot for ef?
I was looking at some clutches something heavy duty, what sort of brands should i look for and what brands should i avoid?
And how high do i have to get the auto car off the ground to remove the box, like knee high ground clearence?
Thanks again for the feedback everyone really saving me a lot of hassles! & money :)

it's different... The ed one has different holes for the booster... Also has the handbrake mount on the side of it... You maybe able to mod it... Have a look around...

I have an exedy HD which is the pink sports tuff one... Love it...

at least bellhousing height... But you're going to need enough space to get under there and operate tools too so you'll need a little bit...

NO ..... that is the easy answer  . i'll measure up & compare the AU/'E' series boxes to give you an actual length differance and what else maybe differant.
