Just had all 4 rims balanced due to getting road noise from 80km to 100km. Tyres are 225/50/r16's and about 3000km old at most. Balance was done at Kmart tyre and auto Katooma. The bloke reckons the noise I am hearing is from " scalloping" of both front wheels and wanted me to sign up for new suspension. Then when I told him the suspensions less than 5000km old, along with the upper/lower ball joints, wheel bearings and front brakes he started to go on about he reckons my rims were buckled. When I asked him to show me the scalloping he could not find it. Also, he said the front wheels were scalloped yet from my understanding if they were its best to put them on the rear.... yet one of my front rims has a distinct mark on it and its still on the same spot as before the balance ( tyres are directional). Also, he had only weighted 2 rims, so if all 4 rims are bucked why has he not counteracted with weight?
See where I am going? Will a balance pick up scolloping? There is no shudder, handling is excellent, wheels are aligned perfect, nothing else wrong apart from this noise.
Has anyone else got Surpasa tyres on their car and can hear tyre noise? The noise sounds like its coming from all 4 tyres and at first I thought it might have been the slotted/drilled rotors causing the noise, like air passing through the tyre/ rim as it rotates at 80km to 100km.
