Anyone else ever had any issues with the radius/strut rod to front of K-frame bush sheering itself? A couple thousand km's after I fitted my Nolathane kit, the drivers side one did it, I replaced it, and now about 1,000kms later the passenger one has done the exact same thing! It's the rear one of the two, it cuts a clean ring straight off and then the rod pushes forward. Will get some pictures tomorrow.
If the search wasn't so homo I'd be able to find the old thread. EDIT: found it using Google - destroyed-strut-rod-to-lower-control-arm-bush-t71514.html . Thinking about going back to rubber, but it's such a pain in the a*** to replace them as the lower control arm has to be dropped. Might just wait until my brake upgrade kit arrives and do 2 birds 1 stone... |

did you use the included washers? i remember something about failures with the bushes unless you use them.
i suppose i'll wait and see if it happens to mine.

There definately are no washers on the original rubber ones - there were none when I removed them and there are none shown in the genuine Ford workshop manual. The Nolathane replacements also do no include a washer for them. The washer you may be thinking of is the big curved washer which sites on the front of the front bushes. It is the rear ones that have failed on me. |

Use SuperPro bushes and you never have a problem. They do not turn to powder like the others do either.

One of the original design bushes had the washer bonded into the back of the bush and no external washer, it may be you have one of those kits. The washer was about 3/4mm smaller than the bush, and the kit was dicontinued because they were having issues with the bushes being damaged from the washer setup.
I had one of those kits in my car for 2 years and never had an issue though. They did replace the kit with a newer design mid last year that is the same as the super pro... One large washer that covered the entire back of the bush. |

After reading the previous thread where someone said the original rubber setup doesn't include a washer, i took the washer off when i did some work in that area, thinking i had falsely added it previously.
But very quickly the bushs were punched out the front. So i put the washer back on and all was fine. I very much think there are supposed to be washers there as std.
