Hi All,

just a quick query - Is $65 a good price to have slotted rotors re-grind?
Its a quote from Pro-Fix in S.A - never used pro-fix before.... anyone had any dramas with them?

Cheers.

Pro fix dont have the best reputation but most workshops have someone else come in to do the actual machining so i dont think its that big a deal.

$65 each? About right i think.

Is that price including them removing them and refitting (I presume rotors have to be removed to be refaced)? ANd is that price each or pair?

Depends. They can be done on the car but a few things need to be prepped. Most likely if they have someone come in to do the machining, they will be done on the car...

Its $65 for the pair.
They remove the rotors from the car. Re-Grind them and re-fit them all for the $65 fee.

I know Pro-fix dont have the best reputation, but im strapped for cash - I dont see how they could f*ck it up - should be a simple process....?

i guess the only thing they could f**k up is grinding too much and leaving you with undersize rotors.
or not doing enough and you would be no better off

Had the work done today, and I must admit - it seems like they did a very good job.
$65 all up - as quoted and the brakes feel like magic.

I Still dont think I would get a major service or engine work done there,
but for the simple/minor things they seem fine...

its not the same 2 machine standard discs 2 slotted discs u have to go a s**t load slower. hence a higher labour cost.

Grinding should be Ok, if you are using a cutting tip it should be done a lot slower so tip doesn't "bounce" off the slots.
