I've noticed rubber hose is starting to crack at the point where it goes onto what I think is the breather pipe of the live axle.

The same hose goes up and is traveling inside the vehicle. I have not traced the rubber hose as yet.

Does anyone know what size this rubber hose and what purpose does it serve?

Hi. don't know the size, but it's only use is as a breather for the diff so no water can go in thru that point. the hose finishes an inch or two from where it goes in.

Thanks mate, I wasn't sure if it was connected to anything else when it goes up the hole.

Easy enough job to do then.
