Hi

Is it true that if you install a shift kit then u have to replace alot of the other transmition parts to deal with higher temps or whatever?

They seem like quite a good option and if anyone has some good info on them, it will be appreciated. I have checked out, shiftkits.com.au but that only tells u so much..

Thanks in advance

no u dont, unless ur making huge power, a electronic shift kit u wont need to do anything to strenghten the box. imo its a huge wank, i did it to mine for $3, and it still wasnt worth it, get a manual.

shiftkits.com.au says, that:

"The module alters the signal the engine / transmission control unit provides to the transmission to control the line pressure. By slightly increasing the line pressure, the transmission changes harder from one gear to the next. This not only reduces heat generated within the clutches and bands in the transmission, but also will increase transmission life and reduce wear."

"The single stage modules provide a firmer shift that is selectable by the flick of a switch, whereas the two stage modules have two independently selectable stages of shift firmness which can also be selected by a switch."

What is 'Shift firmness' may i ask?
and what are they claiming in plain english..

Thanks
