nothing, bolts up, uses same wiring.

i thought there always had to be an even number of unijoints and each pair had to be at the same angle (give or take x degrees) when looking at hte car sideways, and when looking down the shaft they have to be 90 degrees out of whack with each other so that the up slope/down slope of speed variations of each unijoint cancelled each other out.. thus giving you smooth transmission of motion when it gets to the diff. ive got a 2 peice in my EL and it has a uni at the gearbox, a cv in the centre and a uni at the diff. unfortunately coz its a non standard gearbox apparently the geometry is out a bit more than it should, so the life of the unis is reduced from the typical 5000 hours. although, having said all that. i have no idea what a cardon joint is. so whats that and what is its application?

Hmmm, My factory (I think) EBII GLI Falcon wagon did 175 (on the speedo) in third gear (4spd auto) 1:1 ratio and was quite happy, it wasn't revving hard (no tacho, I estimate about 4000rpm).
I've also done, in my stupid youth, 185kph on retreads marked at 140kph in my 1981 laser, I didn't realise I had retreads on the car as I hadn't looked and hadn't had to change the tyres since being given the car. No blow outs, bloody lucky!!! Will CV shafts have the same issue as Tailshafts or will the be "stronger" due to their shorter length? |

wombat, eb2 means 3.27 diff, and 1:1 gear would be doing 200kmh at 5grand.. u were doing more than 4000rpm

Like I said, the car doesn't have a tacho.... yet. All I can say is it sounded quite happy and willing to keep going. The only reason I didn't is because I scared the s**t out of myself when I looked at the speedo and realised I was going so fast. It didn't feel or sound like I was going that fast.

Sorry i forgot to add that the old 2pce driveshafts found in some E series (mainly pursuit cars) had a Universal joint at the slip flange (new type in BA onwards use a flex coupling) Then a CVJ in the centre and 2 universal joints in 1 at the rear (Double Cardin Joint) |

Higher than it can get to along the pit straight of Oran Park.
Even with a great exit from the last turn, I only just get into 5th (250ish KM/H) before braking for turn 1.
