'K, thrillseekers, got one for youse...........

I've got a noise in the front suspension. If (and when) I brake hard, (going forwards)I get a solid "KLACK" which can be felt through the floor by my right foot. If, after I have braked hard, I happen to reverse, I can again get the solid "KLACK"

I have been told, by a "mechanic" , that it is the pads in the caliper moving, but I suspect more, because it is a really solid "KLACK"

I suspect two things: one, maybe the rack is loose (yet to be checked), or two, the ball joints are stuffed. (I have yet to replace them)

Any other suggestions????

1) "Mechanic" is an idiot. And that is being nice.
2) Could be rack (unlikely) Easy to check, get someone to rock the steering wheel and see if the rack moves. 2 bolts, one on the drivers side from the top and one on the passenger side on the bottom.
3) Ball Joints, possible, but you would feel or hear it all the time.
4) Check your radius arm bushes at the front (through the K Frame).

Yeah, considered them but an absolute PITA to replace, but I think you may be right. That is all I can think of, as the inner control arm bushes seem unworn, but again, I might be wrong there too.......

However, gotta get new tyres soon, so I am intending to 1) refresh (replace) all ball joints, (gotta spare set of stub axles 8-) ) and replace the radius arm bushes  . All I have to do is get my a*** into gear and do it..............
