Has anyone fitted straight cut gears to a T5?

I know they are 'noisy' (or in reality a symphony)

I just want to know how much you paid for a a***, and what ratios the a*** are..

Cheers fellas

Happy Motoring

reliability in the T5 isnt a gear strength issue usually bearings, shafts & syncros

Yeah not so much the gears. It's the distance between the two main shafts that is the weak spot on the T5 housings. I was looking to fit straight cut gears to my T5Z from Astro Performance in the States but spoke to Mal Wood and he reckoned it was pointless really.

Albins in Melb do them, as well as undertooth to increase gear strength, but you will find yourself looking for 4th gear constantly because the noise becomes unbearable, definatly a NON CRUISE CAR.
I have had alot of experience with straight cut T5's and in a word, they suck.

Thank you. I was thinking about upgrading the internals of my T5z with Astro or similar. But I now think it'll be worth the extra trouble to go Commodore T56 with the .50 6th gear, a Dellow bell housing, modded cross member and driveshaft and save some money.
