ive been reading through bomber's thread on him putting a t56 into his au xr6 and with the t5 in the xr giving me the absolute s**t im thinking of possibly doing the 6speed conversion myself.

has any1 successfully completed this on an injected windsor

would a custom bell housing need to be fabricated

whats the go with input shafts ie to long, to short, to fat, different splines etc

i relise its not going to be a $1000 conversion, probably more in the vicinity of 5-6k

but with plans for a rebuild (nothing ridiculous im aiming for at least 200kw at the treads) soonish im going to want a gearbox that will stand up to the task.

if anybody has done this or knows some who has and can shed some light on the topic it would be very much appreciated.

If you are willing to spend 5-6k, I would just speak to Mal Wood.
Someone posted up pricing for a TKO600 conversion on AFF from Mal Wood, was around that
price, obviously includes everything.

Found it... that might be Jeff as in XH5LWEPN.
Quote:
Jeff,
If you are going to a 3.9 with the better engine, this is the combination that I would suggest. New TKO 600 (5008 with .64 OD),New Tremec bellhousing, New sandwich plate, New starter, New ACE 11'' special billet steel flywheel, New 11'' pressure plate with a billet steel base plate (no distortion at high revs and explosion proof), New 11'' HP clutch plate, New gearstick and knob, New 31 spline yoke, New mount and crossmember to suit, New speedo gear. @ a total cost of $5920.
With this kit you can reuse the clutch fork, clutch cable, tailshaft etc and the gearstick will be set up to go through the same hole in the floor and console and furthermore the clutch will hold 600HP with ease.
This will leave you with a complete V8 T5 kit that you should be able to sell on the open market for $2000 leaving you with a very cost effective upgrade to your car. Regards Mal

Unless you want the 6th gear?

could try one of these, a t56 with mech speedo gear, so easier to adapt than a b series one since b series use abs for speedo readout.
