im starting to get a weird sound coming from the rear of my car, cant pinpoint it, but its at the rear somewhere, its kinda sounds like a whoosh kinda noise, but its not constant, its there for a second, then not for a second, then there for a second, (in a regular on/off/on/off type rhythum) it keeps timing with the speed of the car too, faster i go, the faster it alternates between there and not, and the same respectively for lower speeds...

it hasnt always been there, its a new noise

admittedly my knowledge of mechanical type things isnt that wonderful, infact its pretty dismal really, but for some reason the diff seems to come to mind...

any thoughts/suggestions/ideas ??

Does it vibrate slightly?

could be just the tailshaft out of balance or uni-joint

Do an oil change in the diff, and see if it makes a difference? Maybe your low, or there's s**t in there.

Cheers

When your diff looks like the following, it needs a rebuild.
