As far as the T5 goes i just used what Ford specifies. ATF (DXII) and some form of additive. The book says Lubrizol but i used Nulon G70 and so far so good. Synchros on mine are rooted and after new oil feels abit smoother and also goes into first easier at very low speed.

Good stuff mate. Let us know if anything changes/improves.

Also, how much was the lubrizol additive, out of interest?

The so called claimed best fluid is Redline Shockproof light.

However the othr 'best' fluid claimed by many builders inc. JMM is

T5
Castrol Transmax Z (with no lubrizol as it contains a friction modifier already)
$70 4lts
Diff
Castrol SAF-XA
$28 ltr

all are fully synthetic.

You use the Lubrizol 7906 with ATF and mineral oils to aid in the baulking problem that is common with some ford and holden gearboxes.

Some Autobarn's sell Lubrizol, and it comes in a 35yr old 150ml bottle.
common price is $9.95 but since autobarn only sells rice now, you might need to find an independent dealer.

I found that Penrite 80/140 diff oil is thick as.
I've always used castrol LSX90 and never had an issue.
But for my next diff/car I shall be using the SAF-XA

dunno about the earlier models but in the AU XR's they recommend the castrol sa as it is synthetic and helps with the seals in the diff, esp the IRS variety
