Hi everyone,
Is someone able to help me with what has happened here? The tailshaft is sitting loose in the auto and a metal sleeve has come out along with the rubber seal. Can the lot simply be tapped back in? Also any ideas what would cause it? I have recently put a 4.11 diff in and I'm wondering if it may be connected? My car is a EF 4 lire/auto.

What Tailshaft is fitted. Is it an AU Manual Tailshaft? or EF Tailshaft. |

That tailshaft is too short, and I think it's gunna need another extension housing, coz that one will be flogged out.

Yep that tailshaft is sitting too far back. Theres no way that bush would come out like that under normal circumstances im sure. Guessing the same as swc and thinking its a manual au tail shaft, they are supposed to be shorter as the au t5 box is longer.
Could it also be a sedan shaft in a lwb/wagon ?

Hi, thanks for the help guys. I bought it second hand as an EF XR Tailshaft (apparently) about a 18 months ago, but it may well be an AU manual. The splines go in about half way which I guess is not normal?

Just grab any E series tailshaft from a sedan and check, auto or manual, E series are the same. |
