Any one know what this could be for? I found it dangeling near the AC radaitor, its got long wires on it, its also looks cut so is it important somehow to re- mount and fix.
Got no clue about it..

Looks like it's had a bit of road friction . . .
Those wires can be repaired, it mounts to the receiver/drier unit from memory.
The sensor sits in the lower radiator airflow intake.

Ambient button on your client control should constantly read 20 if it is the ambient sensor..
