ok tonight i went out to f**k around launching and doing some burnouts to get ready for todays drag. so 1st up i was just stuffing around with launching, so i revved to about 3grand and took off, then all i felt was the car shaking really bad, like i was running over a rock over and over again :| so here i am thinking wtf was that. the i just revved it up abit and dumped the clutch and again the same thing, just shaking like mad!

now i got a new clutch about a month ago and its the same kinda shaking i get from that when i take off normally sometimes. so does anyone have any ideas why my clutch would be doing this? if it is the clutch and what i can do to fix it cos its really starting to piss me off! the clutch is a x-grip textralia, if you need other details just let me know :)

Sounds like axletramp. Either use more revs to get them spinning, or less revs to get it moving. I personally would "ride" the clutch so as to prevent tramping, but use similar revs.

axle tramp is basicaly the rear axle bouncing up and down (one or both sides) while the tyres are trying to get a grip on the surface. Have a look at some of the films of drag cars, and you can see how tramp totaly destroys a run at times, apart from throwing then off line.

A good launch is not necessarily obtained by dumping the clutch straight away. Even in dinky di drag cars there is clutch slip built in to the shift mechanism/timing, thus eliminating the "bagging" of the tyres, and axle tramp.
