Been a while since i've been on here but my 09 fg has been through 4 auto's in the space of 10,000km and been in the workshop for about 9 weeks for zf to get off there a** and do somthing
maybe my car has a glich in it i don't know but just throwing it out there if your looking to buy a fg tick the manual option, sure it's not as quick or as cruisy but it will hold up alot better and don't need programing to your car by a ZF technician imagine if the car was out of warenty @7 grand a box plus programing (no you can't use a box from the wreckers with out ZF programing it to your car) Im seeing how this 4th box holds up and thinking about selling the car for a bf F6 Rspec manual.

Your the first low powered FG I've heard of smashing a ZF. You do realise they can be built? Speak to Autotech about it!

I think there was a guy complaining about them last year as well , I drove a g6 turbo and loved the zf

Those particular ZF Boxes your refering to are also found in the lastest BMW's & Merc's. They have a reputation for being a very good box.
I'm thinking OP drove like a tool & somehow smashed a few

thats alot of boxes to go through... ive seen a few bf xr6t's with more power take huge amounts of abuse without failure..
i think there is a issue somewhere for them to be failing that soon, how long did the original box last... |

if your making 208 or whatever rwks, how mutch torque? std xr6's have a lower torque rating than xr6t's & xr8's. did you look into this? how mutch abuse has it had at the drags now?

would anybody else come on here complaining how bad xr6 ZF's are after they already have dyno sheets posted showing 739nm in another thread. seriously WTF.

A guy I work with has a BF mk2 running the ZF and it just lunched itself. has about 100,000km on it and its babied 100% of the time and a full service history. He was also quoted $7000 for repair.
Up until this, he has nothing but praise for it except the "dreaded Lurch" as he calls it. Seems to be a clunk/lurch when coming to a stop or taking off from a stop. It is a common thing, apparrently there are forums dedicated to it. I think he was a member here a fair while ago, has two white XC GXL's one stock and one that does 11's.

first n/a 6 ive heard of to knock off 4 ZF boxs.
and cant replace tem with one from a wrecker? that sux hole. and here i was b**ch about replacin my btr with a 500 bukker i picked up from another car.

got 60,000 km out of the first 1 till the trans pump s**t it self the next time they just went into limp mode and slipped like a b**ch down a stair case. LOL don't matter what box bmw use euro cars are the most unreliable cars you can buy my sister has 2 m3's im thinking it might be electrical, like maybe my exhaust shop didn't use a stop zap when he welded my new cat in.

When I worked at a Mits dealership....the TE V6 Magna ( latest model att ) were sh!tting the auto boxes like there was no tomorrow......when we replaced them, they got a new TCU too....everytime.....wonder if that is the problem????.....

Gearbox rated to 450Nm and you have 740.... any wonders they break?

So they just go into limp mode?
Did you get any codes from the techs. Doing the repairs. Because they just don't go into limp mode for no reason |
