I did the climate control conversion in my EL. Do it, right royal PITA but oh so worthwhile in the end.

Okay. I am an idiot.

I admit it.

I don't care.

Being an idiot has some advantages.

Like this one.

Ever thought of putting two clocksprings on the same steering column spline? The clockspring I just pulled off in order to change an indicator light has all the connections coming off the outer perimeter. Obviously this would not get in the way of another clockspring underneath. It should be easy enough to get the wires through the first clock and into the second (from the steering wheel...)

What do I know.

I am an idiot.

And that way you can not only keep all your original functions of the steering wheel, but add a few more. I always wish I had put the accelerator on the steering wheel, and now with a variable voltage controller linked to a stepper motor or something, you could.

Oh --- Last (annoying, I know - sorry...) post...

I have a perfect solution for you.

The BENCH SEAT model EL's have a COLUMN SHIFT. All you need to do is change the linkages to the gearbox under the floorpan to link up with your electric shifter.

You could get rid of some of the carbon fibre and replace it with real steel!

Okay, nighty nighty.... See you all once I've skinned some more knuckles, but hopefully not burnt myself too badly.

It'll get done.

Not really, work has kept me extremely busy - even to the point I'll be missing xmas this year.

I haven't forgotten about them.

Progress report.

Good news, I got the one thing everyone wants for xmas - time.

The buttons are integrated, finalised, and tested. They don't conflict with the stereo controls (not that I care, don't use the factory stereo at all).

I've had to build some test circuits and such. But things are progressing.
Image
(nothing fancy, just a tester for confirming the steering wheel buttons work fine and don't conflict).

Now all that needs to be done, is build something to merge the control system I've already got (and it works fine), and now the button interface.

With any luck, it'll be done by the time I go back to work (but new years and summernats stand in my way). I'll test it for a few weeks, and then build something more permanent, and saleable.

DATA_MINEs photography division is lagging behind the R&D and electronics divisions. Sadly the whole thing can be simply guessed at by looking through previous pages.

This thing sure rocks tho. Yeahp, old mate Data is somewhat of a clever chap. If only we all had a tame Data_Mine tethered in the backyard....

Hey Data - should I bother buying the Summernats video this year? Your car doing big old donuts? 1/4 miles? ... ? From what little I've seen of the machine, it is one helluva well presented and worked unit.

Please get the CEO of the photgraffix division to pull finger.

I don't enter summernats*. I've entered the sound off comp the last couple of years, but it's heavily biased to whomever has the most LCD screens and crappy fibreglass work, over who's actually sounds the best.

*no one wants to see a visually stock GT-P driving around, and I don't want to be driving around a typically Holden biased crowd of bogans. Espeically when you're likely to be keyed or have brake fluid dumped on the car if you don't do a burnout on command, and get kicked out if you do.
