if you can make a design for the btr 4speeds that holds in gear put my name down for it
 i imagine the interst for it would be huge especially if you could eliminate kickback... pisses me off even if you could point me in the right direction of how to do it  nicely finished car btw

All I'm doing is 'relocating' the existing sequential mode shifter to the steering wheel. It can't do anything the car couldn't already do.
So for E-series and AU's without the sequential mode, this won't help. edit: And as far as I know, the only way to prevent kick down, is with a fully manualised valve body, then it's manual all the time, no electronics to do it.

The reason you can't find a full manual valve body is because the BTR 4spd is an electronically controlled box, not hydraulic and as such a manual valve body cannot be made`

I popped open the case of a cruise switch just today and took a bunch of pics. One of the first things that came to mind, though, was how much room there is at either end of the case, and how simple it might be to add flappy-paddles with the switches INSIDE the button casings, ready to integrate directly into the single-line resistance-descriminated solution that Data_Mine is assembling.
So i thought I'd whip up a conceptual pic to see if it would work. Things might be a little tight, and such things as what materials to use, how to bump-stop the paddle, finding the right switch to use etc are still up for debate. But it looks like it might be possible.... Lukeyson

Nice find Luke. I chickened out on pulling mine apart, seemed like breaking point was near.
But that's not too bad an idea. I'll have to investigate further.

Yeah, there was a real gotcha to getting them apart - and the clue was in those 2 holes on either side. I had to reach it with a small screwdriver and push in the right spot - which detents the clip and lets it come forward. Knowing how tricky it is, I took a few pics.

Was only a turn of phrase mate... I wouldn't be taking money, but have been sending them onto this thread. Just don't think me saying "do a search on FORDMODS.COM for flappy paddles" is all that effective. Especially when the search function is MIA.
