I use to go to CPL in Notting Hill but MSY are usually $10-$15 cheaper

Slick wrote: LOL I think I should be using the GPU/SMP high performance clients or one of the beta's instead of the standard version for single core processors. I'm not using the full potential of my dual core processor & the Cuda capable gforce I think I run the latest SMP 629 client and also the GPU client. |

Hmm.. that's odd! Maybe they were small WU? I think some WU are worth more than others. I also would think that 35WU would take a fair amount of time. I think I'm doing about 30 a day with 2x GPU clients which are far more powerful than any CPU/SMP

Don't know, when I was using the uni-processor client the score= 311 and WU= 5

Slick wrote: Don't know, when I was using the uni-processor client the score= 311 and WU= 5 the important thing is, as long as it's getting results then that's all that matters. big numbers isn't a measure of someone's status So bloody true. Waggin is right, some WUs have small points returns and other big ones. The current big ones are for use with multiple core CPU and of course, the GPU WUs are heavy in the points department. The Biggest point WUs are for +8 processor cores, like the I7s and the New Intel 6 core. You can also run clients on Virtual cores. I am running 2 GPU clients, 3 SMP CPU clients, good stuff. Am looking at going to an AMD 6 core Thuban CPU soon and maybe a HD5970 2gb GPU, that should rock |

If I asked anyonw what PSU I'd need to run a Quad Core @ 4ghz and 2 reasonable GPU's - they would be recommending 650W+ Now, that said - I'd never dream of running all this on a 350W PSU, my 650W does it just fine at 85% efficiency, silent and cool. Papa Smurf wrote: Waggin wrote: What's their power draw? Right now, with 2 cards and the quad core folding, my machine is pulling a mere 330W. Water temp is sitting at 35*c and the air out of the radiator is at 30*c. Keeps the room spot on temp as long as it's not summer I read on an American site that they recommended a 850W PSU.. Its more about sharing load on the rails as any dips or sags arent good. the 5v is usually a heavely reg'd transformer and the 12v's are transformed (and a few other things) reg'd and spilt in to rails for fans and hdds mostly.

They should be recommending good quality multi-rail PSU's. Not just stating "1 million Watts" and assuming it will be good quality
