Got bored decided that i'd see if the B series airbox being better was myth. It's not a myth. Previously ran the Standard EL airbox with a pod inside. Now its running the B Series airbox and piping to throttle body (already has throttle body piping) and standard paper filter. Also added a front air intake to the airbox as well. Difference, off the line throttle response is obviously improved, Car also feels stronger past 5000rpm. May not make as much difference on a stocker however.
Fully sic pics lol

Modded Airbox.

Front Induction pipe.

Thermo relays before I moved them

Thermo relays after relocation allowing for the pipe in the front

Don't know if its just me bit I think it looks way better then the standard setup.

Nice job on the B-series mods. Have to take it down willowbank for a bit of fun now. :)

I always thought the b series airbox would be too high? Did it fit nicely? What mods did you have to do if any other than the extra intake on it. Very nice though, good job.

Thanks Fairmontxr6 :P will go soon.

Falcon96xr6 the B series airbox it seems will only go straight into a Fairmont without modification due to the raised bonnet. Only 1 bolt at the top will go in (needs to be longer and spaced up about 1cm) and the bottom bolt fits in as normal. It's still a tight fit rubs on the sound deadening but thats not a big deal.

Well did 2 other things out of boredom.... Put the EL on EA style ROH stockies ive always liked them for some reason! Couldn't pass them up either 4 Rims and 95% new tyres for $50

also did the BA Throttle body well worth the $25 it cost me.

That's a great looking Ghia mate... nice car.

I think though to prove your performance claims you're going to need to get her down to a racetrack pretty soon!!!

It ran 14.7 at 93mph.... So there we go. Not bad but not great lol it's also a 5 Speed manual now with the 4.10 gears.

Anyway after that I decided I want to upgrade my motor to BF with some goodies. New bits as follows

BF Motor 80,000ks
FG Intake Manifold
Typhoon Airbox
20% Underdrives
Hurricane headers 200cpsi 3" cat into 2.5" Lukey system with 1 muffler
Custom Tune
5 Speed Manual
4.10 LSD

Should be about a second faster I anticipate and run nicer and be better on fuel! Win!
well we will see anyway should be running in about a week.

Thanks fezlane

I have done a dohc eb back in 09 bit different on an el and i learnt from your thread about being able to mod the sump on a b series! Sump is done I'll post pics of my progress and do a little write up even though there are quite a few write ups on this conversion now.

I will ask one thing.. How did you go with the bonnet? I was thinking of opening up the holes in the engine mounts too drop the engine about 10mm or would that still hit? Thanks in advance!! I know being a fairmont helps things alot.
