the 8 is fun, no doubt and whilst i will miss her like mad, thing is i'll never be trully "happy" with her.

I bought the car with the sole purpose to have fun and modify her which i have done.

However, i'm constantly thinking "i want a bit more here, more there".

I honestly don't think i'd ever stop spending money on it, so i'm hanging up the keys now while i still get a good trade in for it (honestly, unbelieveable really. discounting the mods im actually ahead of what i paid for it).

I am also missing manual like mad so that was a consideration.

I'm after a smaller car, better on fuel and also a car that i can just be happy with "as is" and not have the massive erge to modify it, all of which the xr5 covers.

Sure i'll do basic things like intake etc, but that's to be expected.

I went out and test drove one and absolutely love it. The lightness, the gearbox, it's "little dog with big heart" attitude.

I will miss the 8's soundtrack though :(

ahh the joys of being able to afford getting rid of a 245rwkw xr8 for an xr5t... lucky bugger:P

pity the 8 is going, sounds like it was a good horse.

Nice looking car matey,

I purchased my 2005 Bf xr8 back in Nov 2009
Vixen red, 260 boss, 6 speed auto, 69,000 klms
for $19,000
But had a few issues
rear diff bushes stuffed, so when you acellerated the rear shuttered
front ball joints were stuffed, front struts, rear shocks down on drivers side
starter motor stuck when you turned the key
the owner was initially asking $21,000 but got it for 19,000 cash
it came with a roadworthy certificate which should never have passed with its issues
but i suppose with the price dropped initially i thought i was getting a good deal as overall the car was clean and straight, i am not a real mechanic and didnt have anyone who i could bring along to inspect the car, so its my fault i got caught out (bodgy roadworthy)
I have had direct injection gas fitted, tinted windows, new ball joints, struts, rear shocks, new starter motor, stainless steel extractors, cats, exhaust fitted, custom no plates) FPR MW
upgraded stereo, some minor detailing in the engine bay, and boss decals on bonnet

The car owes me $30k, and its due for its first gas tune, also i need to look at new plugs and leads
i am going to make my own cold air intake too, having a 2.73 diff dont help with take off, bit sluggish, i have just run out of money now to finish it , i am not a big fan of the xr8 rims so i intend to change the colour set up with them and do the inner lips in charcoal and a slight darker shade for the centre similar to the bfxr8 series 2.

This website is great as we can all share our experiences.

i wish you all the best with your falcon and theres nothing like a ford v8

cheers Russel
