In the mid to late 90s we had to pay $550 for that pump trade and the retail price was about $800. Also intercoolers were enormously expensive. In the mid 90s I got this damaged truck one with garret cores and cut it down to fit. One of the best cores I ever had. At the time I was looking at $2k for just the intercooler.
If you equate that to todays dollars, I would have paid $1000 whilst you paid under $200 for the 044 pump.

This generation has no idea as to how much prices have come down. Thank China for that.

Yeah lucky we are! Haha well retail they're still about 330 averagely. I went to car bitz and they quoted me just under 400 dollars for one, and that was trade price I think haha

Hey mate I found a way you can run the ISC for cold start, just gotta run a second coolant temp sensor. I was speaking to the guy at microtech and he said the reason it can't send signal to both ecu's is because it reads the signal as a voltage and it would give an incorrect signal if wired to both

Ok so i got my pre filter sock for my 044 in the mail yesterday, got a few pics of here. One of it fitted up to the factory fuel cradle, just need a 45 degree fitting for it to sit horizontal in the fuel tank.

The second is of my rocker cover gasket i picked up today from repco, cause i have my old tickford rocker cover getting a fresh coat of paint in the factory red colour so should see that tomorow arvo and ill post pics of the engine bay once it looks tidy. Also took the seedy blue paint off the cooler pipes i used. Probably going to get some nice shiny stainless ones soon.

The Third is of my microtech.... still havent wired it up as i have been busy fixing my mums car.... she cooked the motor in her bmw 528i so i had fun on wednesday putting the engine in :| haha also got a pic of that up while im at it haha bit off topic but owell.

Also im going to be putting a second coolant temp sensor in. Anyone done this? If so wheres the best place to put it. Been thinking of pulling my old thermo housing off and seeing if its possible to tap a new thread somewhere if it has room.

Got my rocker cover back yesterday arvo, thought id post some pics of the engine bay.

The gasket didnt seat properly at the back of the rocker cover so it spat oil everywhere so its still sitting at work on my hoist. Gotta go in this morning and re seat the gasket and put it back together haha.

yeah the fittings are brazed on the top to adapt to the top of the 044 pump Other than that it fits straight up. I think the bottom of it is cut out a bit. I didnt actually do it myself the cradle came out of the donor EF turbo i had sitting here. And yes its an external pump hence why i had to buy a seperate pre filter sock to screw into the bottom for the pick up. The intank version is the 040 and fits up exactly the same exept for that it has an inbuilt pick up filter and doesnt quite flow as much as the 044.

i was just gonna buy a walbro 255 or the 040. and use the 044 for a surge tank or have it ubder the car some where. seeing as i dont have oxy to braze i think it will be easier just to get a 040

cheers

How much fuel do you need? If its N/a with mild head work etc then the 040 should be alright. If your going to add boost and depending how much boost you may need the 044. But if your going to do a surge tank set up with the 044 then that should provide more than enough fuel for what you need.

I'm just gathering all the bits I need for my turb set up in 1.5 years. Starting off with low boost 220 rwkw with 8psi . Give or take. Got a Holset hx35w which I rebuilt . Haltech e6x , 600cc injectors. I think a 040 would be fine??
