Hello everyone! I'm Callum im 19 years old and from Melbourne. Just wanted to introduce myself and my Falcon. But before I do, just a big thanks to everyone on Fordmods for the information and inspiration that you have all provided for free. We all share a passion for these beautiful fords and its awesome you all help each other out. I'm keen to learn from you guys and return any helping hands, so if you have any questions feel free to ask!

I'm gonna start out with the template followed by some pics

GENERAL

MAKE: Ford
MODEL: Falcon XR6
YEAR: 1993
COLOUR: Polynesian Green

MECHANICAL

ENGINE: Stock as a rock
TRANSMISSION: BTR auto
DIFFERENTIAL: factory LSD 3.45
BRAKES: standard. replaced the rotors and pads about 6 months ago.
SUSPENSION: king springs and boges gas lowered shocks. front is SL and rear is SSL, sits nice.
EXHAUST: centre muffler and hotdog, reback cat. came on the car, far to droney for my personal liking

STYLING

WHEELS/TYRES: came with the 16inch Tickford wheels, ive got chinese 17inch FTR's powder coated light grey atm.
INTERIOR: velour fairmont interior. i prefer the velour. dont know why but yeah. also have done power windows and auto climate control mods.
EXTERIOR: nothing yet. wanna do a respray next year though!
IN CAR ENTERTAINMENT: nothing atm, not even a head unit. driving me crazy

OTHER

FUTURE PLANS: T5 conversion, Extractors, 2.5inch exhaust, cam, tune, thermofan conversion, serpentine belt conversion, respray, 19inch GT wheels. hoping to be able to get around 160-170rwkw. and turbo it after my P's :)
MONEY SPENT SO FAR: about 1500, had to get rwc and stuff
CREDITS/THANKS: Fordmods!

Im a proud ford man, i dont hate holdens, i just think fords are better :D
especially the in the 6 cylinder department. something attracts me to the unrivaled torque of the inline 6. especially a boosted one!!! i fell inlove with turbos the first time i heard them spool and relase the BOV or dose. I love the sound of V8's but i also love the turbo 6 spooling off its head bouncing off the limiter.

I brought my ED xr6 in february this year for $3000, i was so excited i rushed in and brought it straight away. No Oil leaks, no blowing smoke. car was spotless underneath and from what i could tell it hadnt been in a major accident. plenty of stone chips and little dings, but hey it is 18 years old.

I have had big plans from the start and i have already done some mods, including the power window and auto climate control conversion. I made it easy for myself, I had a donor car pretty much. met a guy who had crashed his grandfathers EB fairmont that he had inherited. garaged its whole life with an amazing 58,000kms on it! couldnt believe the gem i had found. i was dying to get rid of my ratty xr6 interior and manual winders for a comfy plush velour interior and some power windows. so i stripped everything out of it including the loom which made everything so much easier! no cutting and rewiring, just plugged it all back in and voila! all worked perfect. the interior is in immaculate condition. youll see from the pics. not even the reaer demist button had faded.

I have a few updates/changes to the tech docs that i learnt and i thought i might share them to maybe help some of you who are thinking about soing these mods. and i will add them in with pics wo you know what im talking about. anyway ive blabbed on enough for now and its time for some pics.

Hi and welcome to Fordmods.

Your XR6 looks nice and tidy, and the Fairmont interior is very clean.

I look forward to your progress reports.

If we can be of any assistance with specific mods etc, just let us know.

Cheers
BenJ

So im just doing some R&D and saving the funds. obviously as previously mentioned im going to be doing the manual converstion asap

i have interest in the EL BBM manifold conversion and considering i wanna do this now im thinking of doing the serpentine belt and thermofan conversion all at the same time. I just wanna know whats involved in using the el computer to run all that? what looms do i need? and what do i actually need for the BBM?

oh an also i read somewhere about putting a knock sensor on improves economy but the EF/EL knock sensors thread into the block, so its easier to use an AU one i believe?

thanks guys, will let you know how the manual conversion goes

Ok guys so havent been on in yonks so i thought i would update and maybe add some pics later.

Manual went in last weekend took about 15 hours or so. did it by myself with a mate just passing me stuff. pretty straight forward

i brought the whole conversion for 400 and a brand new exedy clutch and flywheel grind for 240

the conversion came with manual loom, manual xr6 computer, clutch cable, fly wheel, shifter.

it didnt come with the inner metal surround that the console screws into, so i traced the rubber and got the cut off disc and made one out of the auto one :D worked a treat

few hiccups at first which was sorted. all the jerking to get the manual on upset my radiator and made it leak which was fixed yesterday. and ive also broken and engine mount. dropping the clutch with 245 tyres didnt help that at all

which bring me too my next point. RIMS

got series 19inch series 1 typhoons on it.
so this is how the car looks currently.

Image

more updates soon hopefully

I just thought mate, was EFI dynamics the place that tuned your car ? What was their pricing like and what sort of tuning did they do ?

yeah kept standard compression so i can throw a decomp plate in and boost down the track once im off P's

and very reasonable. my tune was $388

obviously depends on how long its in there, i had about 7 runs i think

Yeah would be awesome to boost it but as you said once you are off your P's

Wow $388 !! So I am guessing he charges based on time and you provided the J3 chip ? Definitely good price on the tune and 7 runs. Will send him an email now.
