Got me a cheap rusted out EL Wagon off Trademe and the fun begins!

Image

First order of business, strip car! Took a few vids of the rust and stuff so will pull some pics out and post em up soon.

Got a spare engine I'm going to recon and hopefully poke a Tickford head on and a slightly sexy cam setup maybe.

Current pics as of today. Havn't rubbed the paint yet and have yet to add side skirts and fashion a rear skirt (hence rear bumper unpainted. Hunting for a XR6 bumper so not wasting time on front bumper either :)

Good to see some more wagon's being modded. Definitely don't see enough of them around in NZ, let alone Auckland that's for sure. Will be watching this build closely

I take it you are "Deff" from NZFordForums then? I go by the username "fairmont6" on there. I see you are wasting no time with the head and cam

By the way, is that a Boschmann subwoofer you are running? How do you rate them? Have seen them on Trade Me, but have never ever seen or heard those subs running before.

Pulled sump off my spare engine today and the bearings are pretty shagged so gotta send crank in now to see what sort of shape it's in, costs keep on mounting up :(

On a side note, all the runners for the timing chain (both sides) are cracked and/or broken, are these easy enough to pick up? Cheap?

Ok, I now find out my block is a VR2A hybrid type so now I need to track down alot of information regarding this engine as all the info I have is now out the window. If anyone has some handy links to torque settings, tolerance numbers on crank shaft, bore etc... would be much appreciated.

I believe the Hybrid differences are just in the head.

Dropped off the block today at ECR for a clean, measure and hone/bore and crankshaft measure/grind.

Also have my HGHSPD plates ready to go on once it earns them! Gotta go a bit faster before then :)

They didn't really suit my previous car (japper) Image

but ah well, you get that now and then.
