And to top it off I went to fill up today and now the elec fuel cap opener doesn't work... need to use the cable in the boot.

This is getting beyond a joke.

i went up to the high country over the last few days. the chain hire place said no need for chains a** didnt expect snow on the road there...i still asked but they told me to now waste my money. sure no snow on the way over.....spend a few nights there.....p****d down rain the whole time we were there....sure enough coming home an at 1300m an no chains....a bit a snow drift action.

lots of understeer and wheelspin. got thru it without getting bogged.

It's a holden panelvan so don't think its gonna get good feed back on this site.

But for those who are interested its an 83 wb with hx stato front and a warm 253 and 4 speed, 3.55 diff.

Push up and down on it. Compare it to the other side.

just tried that and seemed similar but the drivers side seemed to hiss slightly, also shock has some dirt and crap stuck around the top, oil leak i guess

i only have about 30mm from the top of the shock till the bump stop.

thinking i need new shocks and shall get lower ones.

Pretty likely they're shagged after that mileage. I'd say there's not a lot of gas pressure left in them, so once they get up to normal temperature, they'll be slack spots, etc due to the damping oil 'cavitating'.
Std Ford ones are Monroe's IIRC - correct me if I'm wrong.
Would've been a good idea to change them when the springs were changed - also the std shocks mightn't have enough travel with the lowered springs.
Good idea to check out the rears too.

I think ill spend some tax dollars on that, and put the rest door the panelvan.

I want adjustable height up front so I can bring them level.
Good brands without being to pricey?
Also want similar in the rear. But not height adjustable seeing the rear can't.

a mate was lookin at adjustable's for his ef and he recon'd that the pedders shocks where the cheapest option, might be an option for you. from memory they where about $900 for a set of front's with springs but im not 100%

adjustable konis were going to cost $400 each and i couldnt justify that much money to bring it even so just got monroe GT gas shocks for $230 a pair.

i'm cheap i know.

yeah they should, im about to go fit them now
just checking the specs on a cam i just got for my panelvan.

just ordered an ACL race series rebuild kit and a nice lumpy cam with timing gear, lifters, pushrods and springs.

with all this plus ported heads, oversize valves and performance manifold should get up and boogy nicely.

also has 3.55 diff.

just some info on my pride and joy

why must shocks be such a pain?

the ones on the panelvan are so easy.
