That's a good question about the Ebay IC pipework. I have read that it's pretty thin, but never delt with it myself. I was thinking about an ebay fmic & 2 inch pipe kit for my mighty boy.

Cheers

Yeah a bloke i know bought some ebay cooler piping, tried welding it and ended up throwing it out due to a poor quality aluminium as well as being super thin. I'll have to go see a few fab workshops armed with a list and see what kind of good stuff they can supply.

The exhaust is 99% finished, mate is going to take the front pipe into his work and finish welding up a flange, which is a bit tricky to attach 1.3mm steel to 8mm. Once i get that back i'll have it all bolted in and ready to go! Wooo, another check off the list

Car's can get that way after a while. I hope the saving doesn't take too long so you can then enjoy this great car once again!

Cheers

Unless you had a car trailer & a tow car for say 2 weeks, with 2 or 3 drivers you could make the trip, only stopping for food, fuel & nature, with at least one person sleeping in the back seat... lol.

Cheers

Just completed a PAB dash conversion today, what an a***hole of a job that is. I don't recomend it to anyone haha. Wiring was there for the scarebag, you just need to remove a dummy resistor from the plug and away you go. For anyone doing the conversion, make sure you get the passenger side air ducting, as its very different to the non PAB dash.

Yay i am going to be doing the same thing in a few weeks really looking forward to it. Anything to be careful of. Mines a nf series 1 so apparantley i dont have the wiring there for the PAB so have to change loom as well .

Looks good

Oh really? That sucks, i would have thought any mid/high series EF/EL/NF/NL would have had the wiring there already for the scarebag :? I did the conversion purely for aesthetics, if the wiring wasn't there i would have left it inoperable :)

It looks like a daunting task, but it's actually quite easy once you get in there. The hardest part is unscrewing the fuse and relay block from the back of that dash shell :x

hey man been watching your thread for a few weeks.

very nice man.

i bought a ef fairmont a few weeks ago and spent more time fixing it then driving it.

the old bloke i got it off did not drive it for 4 yrs so every seal is pretty much stuffed.

im trying to convince the missus to get a house with a big shed so i got room to tinker.

seen BA motors cheap as in good nic so im keen to do it.

Cheers for the inspiration

mate...first of all let me say congratulations...

it has taken me since saturday afternoon to read this thread ( on and off between painting cars and what not ) anyway the main reason i stumbled across your thread is i was googling this exact engine/box conversion myself for my ef...as the transmissions packed it in i came across a complete running gear setup for $1000...cheaper alternative than just the box...so i think...

but got me to thinking since u initially used ur old el box onto the ba motor and u had the stuff around with the wiring loom...i wonder whether it would be easier to use a complete ba harness...dash loom and all...maybe something i have to try later on lol

anyway from me u get 10/10 for originality ( havent seen that engine conversion done before )

congrats for such an agonizing but yet accomplishing build mate...ill be watching still :)
