Usually temperature sensors work backwards, as they're NTC Thermistors, that's Negative Temperature Coefficient.

So less resistance = more heat.

But yeah 200Ohms won't make much difference.

Ah cheers info mine, good stuff.

I have a flat drive and axle stands... it's just a wee bit narrow for optimum drivers door opening, can still get it half way open though...

Hi Fiend

Check this out as an option for your Gear Boot.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280316457343&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:au

I bought the Boxcar version for a friend, and the quality is very nice.

You would still need to use your MDF mount however.

Cheers
BenJ

Bring the axle stands, wouldn't worry about bringing the flat driveway - have one of those already. It's a well positioned flat drive way. You've seen it before, you got your door rubbers of the Mont door that was there in one of my many piles of Ford crap.

It's well positioned as it is next to a garage where my tools are located. It is also downstairs from a microwave, a toaster and a supply of cheap Coca-Cola manufactured Coke and apple juices. My tools include things such as angle grinders, sabre saws and drop saws. The garage tools contain things like 1 million assorted bolts and nuts, a drill press, a couple of bandsaws, three different welding set-ups, a few jacks on trolleys, engine lifter, chain hoist, and I'll remember to bring my extremely large hammer. You just never know when you need one or more of these things. Can't see much use for a drop saw to be fair and hope there is no need for the welding, chopping and grinding... Really hope there's no need for the extremely large hammer too! You never know.

DATA_DUDE
Thanks for confirming that. The 1K is wired in and the whole lot is heat-shrinked and insulation taped up so didn't want to start pulling it apart. If it means the computer thinks the tranny is slightly hotter than it's okay with me anyway.

More worrying was the fact that the VOXACE tech doco says

Tech Doco by VOXACE wrote:

The 6.8k resistor needs to be attached between the Violet and Purple-Green wires.

For the life of me I could only find a pinkish wire with Green. I would have called the two wires PURPLE and PINK-GREEN. Didn't have the photo with me, as I've included above, but it looks like the same wires I've used.
Hah bloody hah to me if it's not. Image

All good, just got one clear repeater and am amazed to see that good old uncle Ford has put orange plastic on the inside so you don't need to get orange bulbs as you do with the clear indicators. Cool.
Image
Now I need a right side to match. Although the more observant of you would still notice the right side is GRAY and the left is BLUE anyway. No hurry on the right side repeater then...

That would mean leaving the started motor in the Futurlane in order to get there. What class is he racing in? May not have the money for that outing... OH s**t. Just remembered, it is the kids birthday party that night. They're planning on staying in and playing bloody XBOX all night. May have a quiet word to the missus and we'll all be there... How much is it for kids? Google it Fiend you lazy s**t That's starting to sound better than XBOX for 24hours. Missus is away that night leaving me in charge of all those teenage boys. F**k, this isn't what I signed up for...

I bet you it did. 13mm socket on the end of various bloody contraptions and all has to fit through heater hoses and the bottom of a huge heat soak (BBM). Sounds bad to be honest. I got one off an older EA with original log style manifold on by getting under the car and buggering about with a 13mm and extension about 8 or 9 inches with a small handle that almost broke freeing them up... Good old Pimpster doing that for you huh? He da man. ...

Speaking of who da man. Where the hell has old HuggieBear been as of late? Bring back the bear.

fiend, i found with the voxace guide, that the wires in my EF fairmont were different colours to a couple in the tech doc. I ended up looking at a wiring diagram, and isolated all the solenoid wires till i found a mystery wire that ended up being the correct one.

i will have a look today for the modified plug with resistors i got laying around somewhere, and tell you which wires i used

Cheers man, that's a b**ch that is! That doco on the electrical side of things is pretty much missing everything you need. It doesn't tell you which pins do what, just gives you some oddly defined colours.
That would be much appreciated.Image

Here's a very bad video (turn the sound on your computer OFF before playing this. OFF I tell you. OFF...

I did do another one with the stereo off and it sounds good, but the bloody sun got into the camera lens and you can't see when the poor old car hits 100.

This shows a 7 second (maybe 7.1) 0-100 time with my auto and shift kit. Auto isn't the best anymore, but that just means no wheelspin off the line anyway! Remember all the tools, spare head, and 21" CRT monitor in the boot keeps the wheels on the ground too (although probably slows the car down on 0-100 times just a micro second...)

If you look at this video, you can line up when I start to the two second mark on the video and when I hit 100 to the 9 second mark. That means seven second 0-100 in a car approaching the 1900kg mark. It is that reason that allows me to laugh off all these people who say you should buy a smaller car. WHY on earth would I do that again? I get five 21 inch monitors in the car already loaded with all my tools to build a house and do 160km/h all the way home. Go the big old Fords.

actually, i just stumbled across an old post i made, which might help....

Quote:
Hey i found out why the car was idling so high with the auto ecu.

We had the wrong wire running to the 6.8k resistor (Neutral gear).

If you can remember, the info we had called for Purple/Green strip wire to go to the 6.8 resistor. The plug didnt have the wire so we used a Green/Purple strip wire instead.

Looking through the workshop manual i found it was actually a solenoid wire we used and so were the rest except for a Pink/Green strip wire coming out of the plug that wasnt mentioned in the manual.

So i attached that one instead and it idled fine at 750rpms

also it looks to go alright in that vid !! Get some 3.7's for it..... mine changes around 60kph into 2nd gear, then finishes up nicely in 2nd @ 100kph

Mines faster...

B class, Te Marua, apparently it's not gonna be that big of a night so it will be cheaper, last i heard $15 bucks a head was the norm these days, probably why i haven't been in a while. You can get family concessions etc obviuosly.

Yeah, the high diff ratio in the standard wagon means it's pulling in first up to and occasionally over 80km/h so comparing it to your bloody little sedan and its poxy diff just isn't right Mr "I'm Nigel Mansell, who the hell are you" NZEA.

The UTUBE system doesn't quite let you move the scroll bar thing forwards and backwards enough near the end. You'll just have to trust me that I hit a hundred and stepped off the gas just as the clock hit 9 seconds on the vid for an elapsed time of 7 seconds. I thought that was okay all things considered. Kicked a Golf GTi off the street with it yesterday and boy was he going for it. Even gave him a head start up to 30km/h just sat on his rear bumper, half throttle and then floor and got a nose in front before hitting second gear. Eat that you small performance car nerd with chromies and a thing that goes "psssht" when you change gears.
;)

This is where some real racing happens ... http://www.wellingtonspeedway.co.nz/cgi ... 1235518982

Thanks for the info Mont brother. Appreciated.

Yeah, sure.... That would explain those 5L / 100km fuel averages you were getting ;) Heheheh. Sorry... I'm a prat.

Anyhow, looks like I'll be out Saturday with about five kids in tow. Will meet you someplace at 6:30 or 7 and you'd better have that incredibly fast EA with those 205/65/15's weighed down in the back to avoid spinning up.... You can take a couple of the kids, put them in your boot and we'll sort this out from some random lights out Haywards way... I'm going to start taking all my s**t out the wagon now. Don't call search and rescue - I'll be back before Saturday. And the neighbours should hear my yelling if I get trapped under some sort of avalanche.

Had a day of it. Got pulled over for driving with no seat belt and the dumb a*** pig asked me why he pulled me over.

"Coz I wasn't wearing my seatbelt"
"Yeahp, any reason for that?"
"Yes, I've jut had a shoulder operation and it rubs and cuts and hurts like hell"
"You are required to wait here"

15 minutes later the car off and getting cold and am beginning to think of having a cat nap... He sneaks up and throws a ticket in the window for $150.

I say "What the hell? Can't you let me off with a warning or something?" and he says "no, have a nice day" with sarcasm dripping of his stupid forehead. I say "aw, comon man, that's a bit on the nose... Why did you even ask me why I had no seatbelt on if all you wanted to do was fill your ticket quota?"

"There is no such thing as a ticket quota. You have your ticket, now you must pay it within 28 days and the demerit points will probably mean you loose your license. Have a nice day" (this time the "have a nice day" is slightly less sarcastic and more like a smart a***).

I give him a middle finger, tell him his Mums p***y tasted like the last rugby team had shat on it and that if he doesn't get the f**k away from my car I will go back and s**t on her as well.

I don't wait for him to get out the way and turn sharply to the Wellington Central Police Station with this d***head doing a U-turn and following. Along the way I pass four other cops, none of them care about me driving with no seatbelt.. Until.. Yeahp, you guessed it - SAME f**k cop pulls me over again and leans on my car.

ME - "Get the f**k off my car... NOW... you stupid %^#$^^!#$!^!^%!^^!^^%^!!^%%" He didn't move away from my car. "Oi, I said move. And I f**k mean it, now f**k move, get outa my way I'm off to see your boss..."

His partner (the senior one) comes up and tells me that they don't have an option, they have to give me a ticket. And I say "s**t, it's up to that f**k descretion and he doesn't have a brain in his bloody body."

He says "he has used his discretion and given you a ticket."

I say "I'm on the way to see your Senior Seargeant, now you can f**k and get your rabid mate to get out of my window. His dribble may be carrying disease."

At the station I am walking along the footpath and am quite within my rights to stop and do up my shoelace or something as those two numbskulls try to drive over the footpath into their garage. I refrain from being this much of a d***head. They're just lucky I didn't let my mouth really get carried away.

Talking with a senior traffic cop now and he says "you can go get a doctors letter stating what you've just told me and it will be waived."

"But, officer, they both told me that it didn't matter what doctors said and that if it was that sore I should walk."

"They are wrong. Go and see your doctor and get a letter."
a***hole NEW ZEALAND POLICE and their powertrips. a***hole idiots, the lot of them..Image

Was waiting for a glass shop to open (at 1:30 in the afternoon!) The excursion to the cop shop took an hour or more so I got my glass at 3:00 and spray painted with "glass stain" paint in blue. Decided to paint the trims around the rear window (came up like new) and do something with the glass I just worked so hard to get.

Had to take the kid to music lesson at 6:30, so left the garage and drove home with sellotape all over the inside and outside of tailgate....

Nice work there.

Back to the doc's for an explanatory letter.
That's like when I shredded by back doing a sommersault over the bike handlebars down a hill at 70kph. I had to sit forward with the seat wound back for a week.

LOL, thats the funniest s**t I have heard all day! Did they have a camera, the Futurlane may have made it's tellivision debut on Motorway Patrol?

But seriously you would think the prick would have been a little understanding in the first place, at least ask you if you could provide some proof you had surgery.

The Futurlane stainless laser cut sign looks good Tony, what did you use to cut the hole in the body? Is it stuck on from the outside or the inside? What did you use to stick it on?

Some incandecant globes may be a good way to light it up. LED's may not give the right effect, as they may not give an even spread of light.

Or I have seen automotive fluro lights one of those may be just the right length to mount behind it?

Cheers

Josh

They much prefer things like "this less than career minded driver of mass destruction not only got a ticket but was sentenced to life without parole for this heinous act against humanity, and I think you'll agree that he deserved worse than that... " ...

The Futurlane stainless laser cut sign looks good Tony, what did you use to cut the hole in the body? Is it stuck on from the outside or the inside? What did you use to stick it on? ... Is cut on water jet, but yeah, lazer, water, baked beans. Same thing different channel... Hole in body is angle grinder for straight lines and nibbler to round out the end... It is currently just a silicon sealant holding it all together. This actually works well. I have completely sealed the tops of both inner and outer and got a few 1mm openings in the bottom for the water to run out where it does get in. All metal was done with the anticorrosive paint of course. Don't tell anyone it's only held together with silicon and everyone will think it's cool. Mind you, car companies stick their own badges on with auto trim tape, so what the hell. My silicon is actually better as it stops dirt, water and small insects getting somewhere to stay rent free ...

Some incandecant globes may be a good way to light it up. LED's may not give the right effect, as they may not give an even spread of light.... Jury is still out on this. I have a laptop or two that I can smash the screens out of and use the light diffuses found behind the LCD monitors. That would mean having a strip of lights above / beside / below the sign and the diffuser running behind it. Ford use this effect in the dash to light more than one button from one light source, etc... The diffuser I'm thinking of has many vertical lines etched into a sheet of opaque perspex that you light from the side, therefore each vertical line has a tendency to emit light for a nice even glow ...

Or I have seen automotive fluro lights one of those may be just the right length to mount behind it?
... Yeah, that will be looked at depending on the amount of light that comes through from above option. May be too weak as laptop has 7" strip of LED's down the side and my sign is only 30mm high so there may not be enough edge to get light into. Although, saying that, I could put a bloody 7K H1 headlamp in there if I wanted too ...

Thanks to someone in Te Puke (North of North Island someplace, best known for oval dirt trackers and growing the Te Puke thunder strain of cannabis made famous by winning awards in Amsterdam) buying a bellhousing, sandwich plates and clutch fork I got the car rego'd and bought some milk. Am now going to put $10 petrol in the car and hope the remaining $30 is enough for shipping. $130 bucks including shipping was the sale price in the end. Pity my account was O/D'd already.

Ah, the life of being off work and being on a state benefit. It's not all it's cracked up to be. If I had anything left to sell, I'd be selling it...

Did you end up selling that trans we pulled out? If you did how much can you get for one? I wonder if I could wire one of those EF dash's into mine...
