well another update.. the EB is DEAD!!! it shouldnt have even seen the light of day. the previous owners decided not to tell me it had been in a major front end accident, but when i removed the headlight, sure enough there is was looking at me... hidden damage, the side panels under the front 1/4 is all rippled, the radiator support panel has been replaced and not aligned properly, the chasis is bent and there is sections of the paneling cut out for no reason....

here are some pics

but wait there is more... i scored a Le Manz Red EB Wagon for the pricely sum of $100, complete with 14" 12 slotters lol and a blow head gasket. i pick it up tomorrow so i should have some pics. but all progress will be transfered to the wagon. the front seats will change over, the clock and head with rockercover will also go over. but i now have a whole car for spares, so the NC will now recieve some new bushes :D

well ok, here is the update. i picked up the wagon today, i was a little worried as i hadnt seen pics or anything and i didnt want to end up with a dud, but anyways i took it home and had a good look over it, straight body, great suspension, clean interior (no marks or cracks) exhaust had been replaced so no rust holes.

there is a few small things that need attending to...
1. Head gasket
2. replace the headlining
3. sus out where the gearbox oil leak is coming from and fix it or put the auto in from the sedan.
clean up the wheels as someone sprayed origional 12 slooter with origional center caps in that s**t chrome paint. so steel wool is my friend. if that fails ill either paint them black or buy the snowflakes mark offered me. mmm deep dish

when we tried to put it on the trailor it wouldnt start and we couldnt work out why, but once i got it home i got thinking about what he said.. he mentioned he tried to get all the smartlock gear out.... WTF it doesnt have smartlock. so i put 2 and 2 together and worked out he had the ED smartlock ECU in it, i swapped it for the sedan one and bingo she started. ran rough due to no water and blown headgasket but it allowed me to move it onto the driveway. when it arrived it had a missing mirror and headlights all of which were inside the car. so while they were off i looked around for damage... looks clean as a whistle behind the front panels.

so im stoked. tomorrow the fun begins. installing the sound system, the hood lining again and a general clean

Image
Image
this is the only bit of rust. actually bigger then the pic shows
Image
here is the oopsie when loading the car on the trailor, AU on ultralows plus trailor doesnt allow the car much room to move. but that ok the XR spoiler will cover it lol
Image
complete with mirrors and headlights

I could tell your sedan was bent. The way the grill and the headlights sat in relation to each other. Appeared to me like the radiator support was a bit closer to the engine rather than the bumper sticking out more.

Nice pickup on the wagon, much better family car and better for big loads. I use mine everyday!!

Yes Huggie, good score.

And WELCOME to the Wagon Club.

I was originally looking for a Red Wagon, so am a tad jealous mate.

I look forward to how you progress.

BenJ

cheers for the comments guys. yeah the wagon is in much better shape then the sedan. im dreading the 2 days polishing it up like the sedan... but its worth it in the end

i have always wanted a wagon, as i said to you ben when i bought the sedan, i wished i had waited and found a wagon. they are soo damn sexy lol. but im unsure on what to do about the stripes below the door bump strips, they all look perfect apart from the front right panel where they were removed when the panel was polished (panel hasnt been replaced) so should i go find some more pin striping and re-do the guard... or remove it all. i odnt mind the pin stripping down low

Excellent Score Mr Huggie 8-)
$100 bloody hell that's just cheap as chips
Pity you put all that hard yakka into the sedan only to find it was rooted.
Oh! and you know my opinion on pinstripes, just get rid of them......seriously. Other than that mate, you've got yourself one excellent project base their, have fun :D
Cheers,
Mick

small update. didnt get much done today, as i went to the beach for a BBQ. bu when i got home i moved the cars around (kinda annoying with 2 cars but one battery and 1 ECU shared) and i had a good look over the wagon and composed a list of what needs doing to it for RWC and for looks

Rear bumper respray
c-pillar trim respray
rear seat backs (due to shadecloth stitched on for some reason)
door flap from the little pocket in the rear section
passenger side tail light
drivers side mirror cover
drivers seatbelt
airal
and the 'T' joint from the window washer lines

the only parts i need to buy are:
paint for respray parts
rear seat backs
passenger tail light

the rest i can get from the sedan, but there is also other bits like the clock, volts guage, center console etc that ill be stealing from the sedan.

the bonnet struts got changed over today aswell as fitment of the XR lip spoiler which is subtle but looks good. i also removed the mudflaps which are free to a good home lol i might re-fit when i go to NSW so i dont destroy the paintwork.

this is the fabric thats on the rear seat. if anyone has one let me know.

and the final pic to tease BenJ. NANA my headlining is PERFECT!! :P

small update, i stripped out the sedan of all the good parts apart from the motor and gearbox. then i got bored of that so i started transferring all the good bits across to the wagon. every time i looked in the wagon i saw that damn headlining sitting in the back so i bit the bullet and put it up, lined up perfect, doesnt say, and the trim panels clipped back in apart from 1 bit which ill fix tomorrow some time.

the wagon now has the better style console, clock, volt guage, headunit and replaced the boot lid panel. but today the boot lid decided to drop on my head, so new struts are on the books.

now i have to replace the boot lid speakers as they sound s**t so ill throw the JBL's in there and buy a new set of 2 ways for the front, im also thinking ill fit the 8" sub and sub box in beside the spare wheel and attach a grill on the outside of the wood flooring to allow the sound to travel out and allow me to put things on top without damaging the sub. either that or mount a shallow fit 10 or 12" sub in the back on the side. im not sure yet. i dont want massive bass but some bass is nice.

still looking for a 6 guage instrument cluster as this one looks s**t
Image
this shot shows the console, looks much better then the old one. ignore the ECU flopping about, it travels between the wagon and sedan to move them around
Image
the volt guage. it will probebly end up being mounted somewhere else due to leg room unless i find a 6 guage cluster.
Image
and last but not least, the headunit and clock installed. the headunit is missing the surround as im using it on the headunit in the fairlane at the moment till i find another one
