Ride: NC II Fairlane

Location: morayfield
NSW, Australia

hey all, well i was speaking to a mate who was looking for a car and he sent me a link to an EB on ebay in my local area, i had a look over the ebay ad and told him to go have a closer look, but he changed his mind and went for a laser instead. well this car got stuck in my head so i decided to go have a look over it. the ebay ad states it only needs a steering rack for RWC. so when i turned up i thought oh here we go another lier on ebay, but the lady opened the car up and started it, ran smooth and easy, i looked over it, looks like its had a slight tap in the front and been repaired, but has brand new headlights which is a bonus. i opened every door, looked under the car, through the boot and not a single piece of cancer to be seen... so i threw a few bucks at her and drove home to get slaughted by the other half lol.

the car arrives here sometime next week. but here is what it needs:

good points:
EB 4.0
Aircon
Tinted windows
towbar
new tyres
STOCK
PRICE :)

steering rack
cut and polish to bring the paint back to normal.
the front seats felt a lil crap so ill throw my NC Fairlane front seats in it as the lane now has EL seats.
there is a leak from the moon gasket on the rockercover.

what it will be getting:
lowered springs (maybe XR height)
spac dash
clock
ED Grill
aircon regas
jvc headunit with my spare JBL/Cadence speakers
hoodlining (my dads an auto trimmer so thats not an issue)
EL rockercoer
AU console (for cupholders)
red dash lights
fairlane front seats
a set of 14-16" mags (i have hotwires here but want something nice)

there wont be any performance mods done to this car. this car will be the family car for trips and towing, once this car has rego i will be able to do the mods i want to the lane (aka T5 install, EL handbrake)

the paint it looking sad, but give me a day after its home and it will look like new

well it arrived home today. drove fine..
the issues:
steering rack and possibly pump,
rockercover leaking
apparently a bit bouncy over bumps...
oh and re-wire the horn as it hooked to a button

once i sort these it will go for RWC.

these are the bits that need replacing:
fuel flap
brake light (parcel shelf)
rear right exterior window strip
center console (thinking AU)
instrument cluster
stereo and speakers
A-pillar trims
roof lining (will be done this week)
interior light (i got spares :D )
work out why the rear drivers door button doesnt work
replace outer cap on drivers mirror
bring the radiator suport panel out a lil from a love tap at some stage
respray the bottom half of the body grey

here are some shots. i also removed the crappy car seat covers. only a few burn marks. apart from the just grubby

i forgot to add that the top end is getting rebuilt for a total of 10 bucks lol
buying a headgasket off a mate for 10 bucks,
adding the old NC head which was recently rebuild and shaved 20thou
EL rockergear
EL rockercover.

so it should give the old girl a bit more go.

Huggie!!!!

Nice pick up mate. But then I am biased LOL

This car reminds me of my Red EB when I first got it. There are quite a few similarities.

Oh, and I don't believe the bit about it not being modded for a single second. LOL.

As my Red EB is due to pass on in to the night, yours is ready to take its place.

I done the boot quickly but needs another going over.

but the bonnet is done and looks fantastic. im soo pleased with how its turned out.

here is a list of what needs doing/replacing. some are RWC items others just annoy me

fix bonnet (looks like she has hit a wall while parking and its pushed the bumper up and bonnet outwards at the front
wiper blades
mirror cover
fuel flap
front drivers window mechanism
hood lining
center console
replace the passenger front seat (base is stuffed so ill throw the fairlane one in)
interior light (or just the cover)
stereo brackets
handbrake adjustment (only starts grabbing at the top)
steering rack (havnt had a propper look yet but there is no fluid in there)
T-Bar selector setup as its not firm.
battery as since installing the headunit (stock speakers) something is draining the battery. maybe its an interior light im not sure.
front shocks. i was told they were replaced but they are way too bouncy.

i have 80% of this gear, but the others ill get from wacol wreckers next weekend.

here are your pics:
part way through

AFTER!!!!

Good job there Huggie. See I told you it would come up ok.

Red is a b**ch of a colour to keep like that though.

Huggie, it will be impossible to paint like that.

I ended up sourcing another bar and painting it Red. You might get lucky and find and R code bar at the wreckers.
