What a friggin nightmare of a day. Had to go do some shopping first, which included picking up some springs from a guy off ebay, then got home and got started putting the new springs on around 1pm. Guess what. The new springs are too damned short. With the cap on the end of the shock absorber, there was still room to move the spring up and down. $125 down the drain.
Went to pedders and bought a set of AU XR Super Lows (according to the salesman). They are the red ones in the image. Low and behold, these ones actually did the job. YAY. We finally finished getting the damned things in (after waiting for paint to dry) around 8:15 with light quickly fading. Managed just enough time to get a piccie of the front lowered section to show you all. The lowering of the a*** will occur tomorrow, then I'll be getting a wheel alignment done on Friday and I'll bring Monty along Friday night for everyone to drool over. Have a lookee: Oh, and I've noted the irony that the units that came out were a red shock absorber with a black spring and gone back in a black shock with a red spring. Monty is finally lowered! YAY.
Much easier to do the back shocks than the front ones. LOL. Looks so weird when I look at it though. hehe Here are piccies of the springs for comparison, Monty in its new look and the comparison of before and after. Attachment: sm_DSCF2147.JPG Attachment: sm_DSCF2158.JPG Attachment: final_compare.jpg Tomorrow I'm taking it to get an alignment done so that I can bring it to Liverpool tomorrow night. Next up to be done, probably in this order (neither of us want to do the last one) is The thermo fans, door mirrors and heater core. Glad to hear it all worked out mate, bet you're over the moon about the new stance Oh yeah. Its strange, I can't imagine it not lowered now, and it was only lowered this morning. LOL. Thing about photos though, they hide all the scratches that are on it, like under the driver's door handle, upper part of the guard arch etc. Still, it does look damned good in those photos. |

Springs will cost same or you may find on Ebay for MUCH less. I wouldn't go ULTRA lows. The Super lows that Kings list are what you want. But, you will need to buy Lowered Rear Shocks to work with new Rear springs. We go them from CV Joint Aust @ Auburn |

Thanks Troy, that settles our nerves a bit, George was thinking he'd need to remove the engine and pull it apart to get the bloody thing out. He used swear words I'd never heard before. Incidentally, George says it was a rear lifter. |
