Wow! Thats noisy!

Is the cam timing spot on?
Are you sure the shims are in properly?
Dud lifter/s?

Thats crazy.

tell me about it,

idles fine, if cam timing was off would it affect it?
and double checked all shims with slot facing up
new set of lifters.

It sounds like it has no oil up top, take the valve cover off & then start it up for a few seconds & see if it's getting oil up top. If so, tripple check that cam, if it's a regrind it will probably need more shims.

Cheers

My engine sounded like that when I replaced my lifters but subsided once they bled down. are they new or near new?
The reason I ask is ages ago I thought a 2nd hand set would do the trick and it sounded exactly like that -clack, clack, clack- until I slapped in a new set.

The oil passages in the rockers and shafts are quite small, might be blocked too.

I think we might have a winner. This will be quite noisy. Make sure it is tentioned properly!
