I know how you feel mate. I tried to sell my EF Ghia last September. It had 210 000Ks on it and is in great nick. It was my girlfriends car, but I ended up keeping it for myself as I couldn't bring myself to give it away! Hell, 3 years ago I paid 7grand for it, which was what they were going for at the time.

It just keeps getting worse...

Fordfreak's car wasn't stock with 150k it was modded with over 290k there is a difference... The car itself was worth every cent, if you had another falcon, i said he was lucky to even get 3200 for it because of the high k's and the modifications.

I believe you would see over 3g to the right people... Personally i would feel like a C*** buying it off you for less.

and if they are that cheap, why aren't most people buying ghia's and putting in their t5 and engine in?

also, a gli is worth as much as a ghia? I wouldn't sell mine for 1-2000, and i wouldn't expect anyone to give me that offer.

The badging doesn't really make a difference when you're talking about a 15 year old car (hard to believe the EF came out 15 years ago isn't it)

Badging should make a difference if you plan to mod the car. I held out for a Ghia as that was my plan. Buying all the ghia extra's separately would be expensive and time consuming. I know the E series values have declined greatly in recent years, but the same thing happened to XA to XC's, and before that to XR to XY's. I can remember when I was in highschool (year 12 in 1992) one student bought a very presentable V8 XB GT rep for $2500. Another bought an absolutely mint, one old man owner XB fairmont 250ci coupe for $4500.

the market value on EF Ghia's is only $3k now, i know as that is what mine is currently insured for, but im going agreed value in a couple of months, the prices of these cars is getting stupid now.

Redbook actually values EF Futuras at ~$200 more than EF Fairmonts, and Ghias ~200 more again, with ghias at $3600.

We were really lucky to get out of our EL Mont nearly 12 months ago before the prices took the real big hard nose dive.
We got $4500 for it and it was a really nice car. Owed us considerably more then that but we were changing cars one way or the other and we saw the writing on the wall.
When we got the offer fof four and a half we didnt even negotiate , did the deal then and there.
Even washed and detailed it for the new owner before he picked it up.
I nearly put a full tank of juice in it too but decided not too. Needless to say we were happy to get that for it.
As an idea of how bad prices have gone very late last year I bought a 94 ED Fairmont with four months rego for $400. Yeah it needs some work but is an honest car.
The E series as much as they are not a bad car are not worth a cent anymore.
They say an E series is forever. Its not because you love them that much that you will never want to sell it its just that you cant get enough money for them to justify off loading it!
