just found this for you, might help
Quote: Engine won’t start when its hotProblem: Engine won’t start when its hot. Diagnosis: Possible fuel injection problem: Electornic Fuel Injection (EFI) system needs to be looked at by a mechanic. Could also be a problem with the cold start injector or Coolant Temp Sensor. Could also be a vapour lock or a problem with the injection module or EFI overheating Solution: Need to call a mechanic for this, who will need to replace the parts. Alternatively you can open the hood and let the car cool down for a while then try again. Quote:

And the day I pay a mechanic to do anything on any of my cars will be the day the sun goes out

Changed the filter ???
The shorting trick I mentioned simply operates the ECU and pump relays like the ECU would.

Read back through the thread, all is explained......
Now, Ben dropped over this avo and said the pump sounds "normal". I am still guessing it may be fuel related because when the pump is kept on via the diagnostic plug it fires straight away. This to me says fuel pressure related in some way. Yes it could still be the pump but could also entail the press regulator. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if it was tied into that weird no action from the key start thing I have experienced as well........ and here was I thinking that this car would be better then the old EB she had.......

Got some more done today....
It now has air con - yay! Nice and cold when driving, finally... Fitted lowered Ultima shocks in the rear. Got these off BenJ a little while ago and finally got them in. Replaced the fuel filter (twice actually, stuffed the first one by x-threading the front fitting - grrrr). The old one had definitely been on there since it rolled off the production line and wouldn't even drain out the OUT end! Replacing it did improve starting a little bit but I still have to turn on and wait for prime. The fuel pump actually sounds a little better, not as "strained" as it was but..... Am a bit up in the air at the moment on what to do next, still could be the regulator or the pump or even both. Can't find any of my spare pumps so it will have to wait for a bit until I can acquire one.

You get your air con working and mine decides to pack it in. What was it worth getting the Fairmont re-gassed?

Local guy pressure tested and installed R134a with dye for $120.00 inc. It handled the 35C we had today pretty well, first time the ole colimate control could actually do its assigned job

Well, the wiring and diagnostic guru (snap) came around today for a chat and bug hunt. The antenna issue has finally been resolved.
First up it was found that the spare antenna he brought with him would not activate when plugged in, even though there was voltage at the plug. It was also found out that the original antenna that HAD been working, was no longer working. We again tested the wiring from the BBM plug to the antenna plug and snap's spare antenna worked as it should. Now, he happened to have a spare green BEM with him so we threw that in and guess what.... the antenna worked as it should. So, the second BEM I put in to fix this problem was showing the same problem as the original - no antenna action. With this third one in all was well so snap turned his attention to the original antenna that came from the car. This was a saga in itself as it was ascertained that it wasn't original. A quick rewire and it worked so that was then plugged in and all was happy in the world, well at least Rach's EF Fairmont world that is. I just have to put the dash back together (again!) and it will be all good. Time to move onto the next problem.... Cheers RD
