finally got the head and cam on a few weeks ago, also got a wideband controller of Jase from Tiperformance so i wont have to wait to get dyno access. (just need to get a commodore MAP sensor for it.).

Why the Commy map sensor? Something to do with logging?

That last dyno run must have been quite disappointing, have you been back since?

Decided I'm going to have a go at tuning mine,
Just can't decide whether to go with the full kit from Jason and buy a cheap laptop, or just get the burner from Jason and lash out on a 3A2 wideband controller and display.
The 3A2 has onboard data logging, plus I don't really like the idea of a laptop floating around (for logging) while im driving it hard.

Also a little confused about the EF bin/def combo's on the T.I. site.
Says that 4TBD use N4AG9 def?
That would be a Tickford Fairmont (auto) bin with a Manual def?
Looks like you can switch to manual in the auto def, but can't switch to auto in the manual def?
Or have I missed something?

you need a MAP that is voltage based for logging. the falcon map is frequency based.
not really disappointed, the cam was awesome to drive with, torque was all in the low to mid range. if you aren't chasing top end, or don't drive above 5000 rpm at all, the cam would be perfect.
my laptop sits on the passenger seat fine, and its not exactly small.
as for the bin/defs, id have to actually look in the binary to see what def the bins need, but id say that the defined parameters are in the same spot, that's why the def will work on that bin, there may be some slight differences but jase wouldn't put it on the site if it didn't work.

Yeah, torque is where it's at with these motors. The final number doesn't really matter when it pulls like a train, with the speed limits, cops and traffic these days it's not often you get to use top end.
Although I kinda like my new cam, fairly smooth and sedate below 2500, not so sedate above. Like driving a 2-stroke motocross bike. It's a pig in the wet but......

Thought that may be the case with the map.

Will take another look at those bin/def combo's now I've had some sleep. Might see if Jason can email me the tune he wrote for my chip so I have something to compare, just to make sure I understand before I start playing with it myself, my engine is so far off stock its going to require some fairly large changes to the spark and VE tables. (eventually that is, will be starting small and working my way up.)

Cheers.

Have you dropped the pistons in yet or still waiting on the engine swap? Maybe the custom cam will pair better with the new engine and retune?
